Our Ikea spice rack et al

DE (@DaddyEvil) asked about the spice rack in the kitchen so I thought I’d take a close up of it so that you can see it more clearly. The whole thing is from Ikea. The black rod is attached to the wall and comes with the basket, some hooks and the shelves which are ideal for spices.
We bought three of these sets. One is at the other end of the kitchen. We didn’t realise we wouldn’t have room for the third rod (or room to put two together) without drilling through the tiles at the back of the stove. We didn’t want to do that.
The spices we use most are on these shelves. The ones we rarely use are in the pantry, which is really just a cupboard. The baking paper and Gladwrap might seem like overkill for just 2 people but they are leftovers from when we’d have a lot of visitors when the Music Shack was operating. We won’t run out of either for a while.

@Tampa_girl7 Thanks. I'm glad we got black rather than silver.

Reminds me of the comedian Michael McIntyre's Five Spice joke

The poor forgotten herbs and spices left in the cupboard. From Hello Wembley. Website: https://www.michaelmcintyre.co.uk/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/T...

@Orson_Kart Thanks for the link. That is SO funny. I can imagine half our spices would have had similar stories but even the spice racks have been downsized with this move. The ones we now have all get used; some more than others of course.

Thank you. I appreciate the close up of it.
I think we'd need two of them to hold everything we've got in the cupboard right now.

@JudyEv Right now, our most used spices are sitting on the kitchen window sill (behind the work counter) and all the rest are in a cupboard.
Pretty pulled all of them out yesterday trying to find something for me... It's a little upsetting when we know we have it but can't locate where it's hiding.

@DaddyEvil Believe me, I know the feeling. We have a cupboard/pantry but it's very deep and things hide at the back.

I see. I understand. When my Grandma was alive, we all gathered and lots of big serving dishes, but not any longer. Donated them to church. The The older I got to more left for heaven.

We had some with an expiry date of 2005!!! Vince would buy something for one dish then never use it again. It's great having the ones we use most within such easy reach.

That's a really nice spice rack. We don't have room for any of that.

we have the same one - have it on the pantry door. It is a great way to easily grab spices!

Much better than shuffling through dozens trying to find the one you want.
