My Morning Greeting

I had a message from my granddaughter this morning and a photo which is the one above of my grandson. He had taken a liking to HER new white rooster. I had to laugh when I saw the picture. He is just sitting there relaxing and enjoying petting the rooster and has their dog, Zurrie, laying there beside him.
I was amused yesterday when he paid said rooster not very much attention. He was mad because our little dog, Jessie ran and hid from him and wouldn't come and play. She is shy around kids but quick to roll over for a tummy rub from adults. I think she was abused by some kids before she showed up here.
That is how my day started and I thought I would share the photo with you all. How is your day going or how did is go?

Children can injure animals, that's why your dog runs and hide. Apparently, it has been hurt before, by kids.

I agree. We have noticed this with most strangers coming up. This little guy though has s special touch with animals and knows he has to be gentle with them. They have lots of pets at home from chickens to dogs to lizards and guinea pigs and a parrot.

@kobesbuddy I have noticed that the ducks and chickens at their house will let him pick them up with no problem. If I stooped to pick one up they would run. It is like they know he won't hurt them.

@kareng I'm glad they are teaching him to be kind to animals. Some even die, from a child choking a kitten or a puppy!

It is hard not getting attached to them after you raise them, whether ou incubate or buy baby chicks. I always stop and give a couple a pat or petting when feeding and picking up eggs. I'd rather they be nice and happy vs. mean or aggresive. I always tell them if I get pecked (wearing sandals out there) that they better watch out--I'm the one who feeds you and brings treats!

Thank you. I love how much he loves animals. He is very gentle with them. We went in the chicken coop yesterday and his sister and I both had on sandals. He was barefooted. Sister and I both got pecks on our toes but he didn't get any. It's like he has a specail aurora and animals don't cause any harm to him.
