How to be a PAWRENT

The only thing that runs into my mind is being a responsible pawrent to their fur babies. If he or she cannot have this quality, then never think of being an owner. In my neighborhood, it is normal to see stray cats. They keep on multiplying.[em]w00t[/em Is your neighborhood like this?

I don`t see stray cats around here. Most of the cats I see have pawrents who loves them dearly.

@m_audrey6788 That is great to hear. It would be nice if every neighborhood were like that.

I hope my neighborhood will be able to handle this dilemma. The stray cat population is starting to boom here.

In my own opinion only I think all pet cats should be kept indoors to protect not only the kitties but also the surrounding wildlife like birds and lizards.

@rebelann I do agree with you. My dogs are living indoor. I will feel bad if they are staying outside the house.

I am glad that they are not roaming around without your supervision. I hope the people in charge in my neighborhood will do something about it.

There are plenty of irresponsible people like that Sometimes they would dump the babies as they only want the mom. Sometimes they would dump all, saying the cats can survive in the wild on their own.

I had seen some irresponsible masters who did this. I felt bad for their pets being abandoned.

No, there aren't any stray cats or dogs here. If any show up, we call the pound (the municipal authority who catches and takes care of stray pets) and they catch the stray animal. If someone owns the pet, they can pay a fine and get it back. If nobody owns it then it's usually put to sleep.

We do have a local government agency that captures stray animals, but it is only dogs. I did not get putting them to sleep. Is it like letting them die like euthanasia?

@Shavkat Yes, "putting them to sleep" is a nice way of saying euthanize them.

that is a difficult reality sometimes, there are people that shouldn't have pets!

That's the reason why I cannot understand these people who want to have their own pets but cannot even sustain to be responsible souls.

@DocAndersen The feeling is mutual with this concern. Originally, I am a dog lover. I tried to love a whisker a few years back and lost it. But still, I am open to having one in the future.

@Shavkat Dogs, or Cats (personally i am more of a dog person) are gifts but we are responsible for them and their well being. It makes me so sad when I see a dog abused. Or a cat roaming around outside free with no control.

Yes, my former neighborhood was very much like that. This is why we have a boat load of cats. My husband and I love them so much and wouldn't trade any one of them for the world but talk about irresponsibility. The trap, neuter, return program or TNR helps a bit. This is where an organization like the Humane Society, captures the stray cats, takes them to get examined, spayed or neutered and then they return them to the location. As long as there is a responsible person or persons who will feed and care for this 'colony', the cats don't multiply and no other cats come into the area because the territory is already taken.

@betlynfrnds I am hoping that the local government unit will do the same thing here. Perhaps they can be stricter to these irresponsible people.

There are lots of stray cats and dogs here.. nobody brother's. But if they create any problems then people complain the authorities , rest is done by them. . those who own the pets look after them very well...

There are no stray dogs here. The reason is that they had imposed an ordinance about it. I cannot understand why they did not include cats.

Our street is full of cats. Yes, they keep on multiplying and my neighbors keep on feeding them but I do not think anyone own them here

it is common, but people take care of them somehow - they feed them and they adopt some.
