Day 33
Exodus 9:13 And the LORD said unto Moses, “Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, ‘Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews, “Let my people go, that they may serve me.
14 “For I will at this time send all my plagues upon thine heart, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people; that thou mayest know that there is none like me in all the earth.
15 “For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may smite thee and thy people with pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
16 “And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to show in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
17 “As yet exalt thou thyself against my people, that thou wilt not let them go?
18 “Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now.
19 “Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.”
20 He who feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses:
21 And he who regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field.
What do you do when you have one crisis after another? Do you reach out for help and relief from whatever sources you can find? Or do you think you can handle the situation alone?
God rained down plagues on Egypt to show Pharaoh who He is and He alone has power over the earth. Yet, with each plague, Pharaoh hardened his heart and refused to let Israel go to worship God. With the plague of hail, God gives the Egyptians a choice. They can either bring their cattle in from the fields along with their servants, or they can keep them in the fields and risk death to their animals and servants.
As Christians, you know when God speaks to you, you need to listen. Too often Christians give God a list of what they expect Him to do in a given situation. Yet, it isn’t for God to listen to your demands, but for you to listen to God and do what He tells you.
When you realize your one-sided prayers won’t work with God, then you will do what God requires and He will do as He promised.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (KJV)
Micah 6:8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
When you listen to God and do what He tells you, He will always hear your prayers.
Let’s pray: Father, soften my heart so I hear You and do what You ask of me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

@JoyDorsey I wish this would be true. But I am not so sure.

@dya80dya There was a time in my life when my prayers went unanswered. No matter what I did, it seemed like I was praying to a stone wall. The secret to prayer is listening, not giving God demands about how to fix the problems in your life. When I started listening, my prayer life changed.

I do agree with you that when one prays and does what the Lord whispers to him, his prayer will be answered.
