Waiting and doing and waiting

I tell myself that sometimes I just have to do it. Shut my eyes and do it. The realtor guy messaged me this morning. (Used car salesman kind of guy, you know?) This house will always be a Fix It kind of place but its comfy. The heat pump is tossing out cool air right now. So I picked a date in August and told him he had permission to come snoop. Never going to be sparkly and Martha Stewart cute. No law saying that I have to make a contract with him. I will be thinking up questions to ask, though. Hubby has his questions, too. And the solar panels on the West side house are up. The city will be doing their thing about hooking to them- I'm not good with details on that. I called back the glass company. Next Wednesday one of their workers will go out and install the naughty glass panels that keep coming out when the wind blows. Sounds like good people there. While I was at it I ordered a security screen door for the front door. That front porch needs air circulation. I love how places like Home Depot have modern doors that look Victorian. I took hubby to work this morning then got in a little exercise at Lowes. Rufus dog came with me. One of the clerks accidentally knocked down some plastic spray bottles and made a racket that startled Rufus. The clerk apologized. I almost told him to do it again cause the racket and distraction was a teaching moment for Rufus. He needs to learn that being with me is a safe time. I want Rufus to be a good citizen and part of that is not jumping all over the place when craziness happens. Rufus mostly stayed by my left side, calm and collected, not causing any problems. Whatever else is going on with him, his leash manners are fantastic. Loose leash all the way.

We're doing our best with this home, also. Every change we make, it's a little bit nicer. We've thought about solar panels, but that won't happen any time soon. We might need a screen door also.

@kobesbuddy Screen doors are awesome. Security screen doors are even better cause the screen is tougher. Critters can't bust through so easily.

@sallypup We don't have that problem, but if someone knocks on the door, I have to know who it is.

@kobesbuddy I know what you mean. It's sure going to be weird for a few days after we move to town. I'm spoiled by land giving me privacy. Half my front door is glass. Instead of a wooden deck out front I'll live with an enclosed porch then a bit of a yard before the street.

Glad Both you and Rufus are making progress..now this house you are working on, if this the one you live in and want to sell, or one your renter lives in?

@snowy22315 The house we're working on is the renter house. I can't wait to go see the changes when we go over there next month.

@snowy22315 It's going on four years since I bought that house. Its 121 years old now. And I can't believe I bought that old lady. It's like a weird dream.

Sounds like you've got your work cut out for ya. That's great that Rufus is good on a leash. I'm not taking Roscoe anywhere until it cools down some, that asphalt is murder for a pups paws in the heat we get.

I hope you don't get the same intense heat we do. I'll bet the wet helped Rufus.

@rebelann I hope the intense heat is done for us this year. 110 in June was not funny.

@rebelann A man was watering plants in Lowe's garden center. I hope the wet pavement felt good on Rufus's feet. When its hot out I sometimes walk Rufus around inside my house, encouraging him to heel even without a leash and collar on. He needs activity or we all will be bonkers.

As you probably know, we hit another snag with the other house; so it's still not up for sale. I have doubts that we will ever sell it. I'm glad to hear that Rufus is being a good boy.

@LindaOhio What a heartbreaker for you. I'm sorry. I've thought about renting out our current house and moving to the West side house. Even though my current house is just a mobile, a renter could still harm it and put us in a bad situation.

@sallypup Some people like to be landlords and have good luck at it; but we found that it was more expense than anything else.

I still say Rufus dog is such a great dog. Well mannered. You are teaching him well. Always something to do when you have a house, no doubt.

Thanks @CarolDM. I think Rufus will eventually mature. His puppy itchiness will go away some time and I will probably miss them- a little, anyway.

Glad Rufus did well with you. Sounds like you are getting things lined up and taken care of. I'm sure once everything is done you and your hubby will have many happy years there.
