How would you define love?

Is it only the feeling of liking someone
Or a strong attachment you feel towards something
'Love' is only a mere word having 4 letters but it holds even a greater meaning.
Buddha, LaoTzi and Jesus taught the same thing, that compassion and loving-kindness are supreme qualities without which no enlightenment is possible.

True! But is it only that? Or it has a broader meaning

I feel there are two types of love- the first being normal love and the second being higher love.
The first love is common. It is more duty than love. Love of parents, children etc..
Higher love is what you mentioned- Buddha, Lao tse, Christ etc.. we can love the bad people also, even those who hurt us.
Can a man who catches his wife in adultery will still be able to love her? A girl who is madly in love with a boy- would she still love him if she came to know that he has the habit of molesting women in public places? A boy who is in love with a girl- would he still love her if she slaps him hard on the face?

I would define it as one of the purest human qualities if it is real

Love is something I like to read about and hear. I always love to think the concept of love in books. But you are right. Love is something that will do many things to you without your permission. Your love for family and friends, everyone counts.
But apart from family and friends love, I still don't know much of it.
