An Interesting Sunday Morning

Was in the screen room earlier enjoying the quiet morning. All of a sudden I heard a loud four-wheeler flying down the street over from my home.
I could not believe what I saw. Looked like a young teen riding, with no helmet, no shirt, and standing up. Yes, he was standing up, going down the street.
I know the police chief that lives on that street. I gave him a call. I was afraid for the boy. And others as well. I never expected the reaction I received. He said, oh yeah, that is my son.
Others have called me as well. I will go check on him.
He did not seem one bit concerned for his safety. I would be freaking out if that were my son. Oh well. Just another day in the neighborhood.

Well, I guess the police chief has seen everything in this life so far and nothing disturbs him anymore but I certainly would never let my son ride like that, It takes but a minute for an accident to happen,

I guess some people just like to think that are real life super heroes taking chances with their lives.

@CarolDM I remember a police officer who was a Mississippi state trooper giving us Domino's Pizza his stories that parents need to be responsible for the behavior of their children when they ride in autos or motorcycles.

Oh, my! Some dangerous pass time hobby for that daring young man.
I hope that that four-wheeler is registered vehicle and licensed 'driver'.

@CarolDM Hi, Carol. I didn't think so, either. Thank you. So good to see you and visiting with a few of our good friends here. Australia is in a state to dictatorial lockdown again. The 5th. So, am not busy at work.

@everwonderwhy I heard about Australia's lockdown. My friend had to cancel travel plans there.

I would be hysterical. Especially without a helmet. I get upset when I see people in the streets riding motorcycles without a helmet. I wish the cops would pull them over and give them a ticket. But every time I see them I never see a cop. Funny thing is ... I usually see them on Sundays. Sunday must be a great day for bikers.

That certainly was a surprise. Too bad he's not more concerned about his son.

that is pretty funny if you think about it! but I would err more on your side there. i suspect the danger of doing that is greater than the freedom desired!

They are not supposed to ride them on the roads here. Maybe call someone else if he does it again.

Just last Sunday had a friend's son, he's 8, have a very serious ATV accident. Spent a few days in the hospital after having surgery. He hit a bump and went over the handlebars. He split his face open above his left eye and had a fractured wrist. Thankfully he didn't have brain damage, though it took him a day to remember his parents and what happened. He wasn't riding irresponsible, had a helmet on wasn't going fast, just a bump that threw him off.
Sad that the police chief wasn't a bit more concerned than he was for his boy. I'm sure he is like so many, "that will never happen to me or mine" mentality.
