One of those moments.

Yesterday I was by my smallest chicken pen, tending to the two inmates. Rufus was out in the yard with me. He loves to play in the hose water. I quietly told him that in a minute I would get the hose and while I was watering the ducks he could play. Just quiet talk. He looked at me and quick, so quick, ran over to where the hose lay under the gate to the other coop. Mister Smarty Pants knows the word "hose." This morning I was pushing my grocery cart in Safeway clumsily, turned it around to go the other way and crud, right then people showed up. We had a bit of a jam for a minute. I gestured to the lady who was staring at me- gestured the way I do to Rufus!!! After I did it I realized that I had been with my dogs too much and that B. the lady is dumber than Rufus. She just stood there instead of coming forward cause I'd given her room. Kind of embarrassing and kind of enlightening on her brain cells. Ha ha.

Sometimes it is not "the brainy ones" that understand and communicate.

Isn't it amazing how they can learn our language! My husband's lab loves the hose too. Maybe you gestured in a way you understand but looks confusing to other people. I only say this because my dad is that way .

Dogs never cease to amaze me. They are so much better than some people in so many ways.

Maybe she couldn't see what you were doing? And, you forgot to talk, so a misunderstanding.

Animals can be scary smart. Sometimes a facial expression will be understood by mine. It appears dogs are better with commands than people lol.
