Day 41 Exodus 17:8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9 And Moses said unto Joshua, “Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.” 10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. 14 And the LORD said unto Moses, “Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.” 15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it, Jehovah Nissi: 16 For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation. People often ask others to pray for them in the battles they face. Battles come in all forms. Sickness and disease, financial, and relationships being the major battles people face. God told Moses to send Joshua to war against Amalek. While he did, Moses stood with his hands lifted before God. When his arms grew heavy, Aaron and Hur kept his arms lifted so Israel would win the war. As Christians, you’re called on to stand in the gap for your friends and family. How long do you pray? Do you pray until you see an answer to your prayers or do you pray once and go on your way, forgetting the problem until it’s brought up again? Moses stood before God until Israel won the battle. You are to be like Moses and stand in the gap until you see victory in the battle. It might be a short battle, or you might need to spend many hours in prayer before you see an answer. Let’s pray: Father, help me stand in the gap until You answer, no matter how long it takes. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 24 July 2021 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

My favorite bible war story has been Moses' war against Amalek! The raising of Moses' hand was phenomenal!

What Aaron and Hur were doing is to have a good if not best to bolster the moral of the soldiers fighting in the battle.

Do you think they had time to think about that in the heat of the battle? Have a blessed day.

@just4him Yes, before the battle they knew the importance of Moses leadership which they and their soldiers are genuinely and faithfully supporting it.
