Another trip to the Farmer's Market

I managed to get up and get going this morning. Go, me!
The photo shows grinning Rufus. The Farmer's Market was very busy. A family was there, the two young boys riding bikes with their parents and baby. Rufus was a bit nervous around the kids- especially when one almost ran over one of his front feet. Another family, this time a Mom and older daughter, had a small dog and a Dobermann pincher type. First the little dog got away then the Dobie escaped.
Dobie jumped at Rufus but he kept his cool and did not growl or bite. Good boy!
Once in a while I put him on sit. He could look around and see what all was going on around him while he sat. He patiently waited for me to buy some apricots, cherries and Swiss Chard greens. A polite boy came over and said hello to Rufus. I discouraged Rufus from jumping up to greet the nice kid.
So much commotion! Happy people. It felt good to get out for a bit.

@Hannihar I hear you. I live in an area right now where there are too many people unless I choose to engage like I did at the Market. Next year if I move there will be more people near me all the time. I am still considering whether I like that idea or not.

You've done a good job with him.
Mine gives me a hard time while I'm training him to heel. He did better a month ago but then I ran out of treats and he didn't bother trying unless I had treats. He's not as easy to train as Ally was. He does the sit, shake hands and lay thingy plus he'll sit and wait for me to fill his bowl and not move until I say go.
I suppose he's doing ok given he's only been with me for 15 and 1/4 weeks and he's already 6 months old.

Yeah, he is coming along but like you said it's like trying to get through to a teenager .... that never goes well.
The only time he's calm is when he's napping. These days he's not napping as much and when he's in his hyper stage he wants to run the fence with his buds.

@TheSojourner Leah used to do that. A dog trainer told me that she did it out of wanting attention and nervousness.

Six months @rebelann? You have a kiddo on the cusp of teenage hood. Treats may be the way to reach him- got to make it one or two minute games throughout the day. Inside stuff- walk around, encouraging your Cutie to follow your left side. No leash. Just fun and games, focused on that left side. Whoever taught Rufus to heel did a bang up job and I am quite spoiled.
