2 Questions For Today- ATM Machines

It took me a long time to come around to using an ATM machine for my banking, but I've been converted. Almost every withdrawal I make I use the convenient Drive-thru ATM located on the outside or inside of my bank. Deposits are another story. Although I have deposited through an ATM machine at one bank I use, (it's easy enough I can figure it out), but usually go to the Drive-thru teller or inside the bank to make a deposit. How about you? How often do you use an ATM machine for banking purposes? Or do you prefer going inside and dealing with the teller? My second question has to do with hygiene especially since Covid 19. Do you use a disinfectant of any kind like liquid sanitizer or some other product after using an ATM? Did you know that the UK did a study which concluded that ATM's are as filthy as public toilets! Wow! It never occurred to me how many people must use that touch pad to enter their authorization pin during the course of a day. And I even have liquid sanitizer in my car, but never think of using it after withdrawing my money How about you? Do you protect yourself from the harmful bacteria the ATM machines carry when banking?

I rearely go to the bank anymore. I do practically all my banking online from home. I use my credit card to do all my purchases. It is free and I get points which can be converted into cash and transfer a payment from my banking account tp pay the credit card once a month.

Yes, banking has become extremely easy to do with all the innovations today. Cash back credit cards are great! I've used my cash to purchase Amazon gift cards. Fun ATM facts: 1.. The United States currently has 420,000 ATMs — that’s more than any other country — but that may not last long because Americans are using them with decreasing frequency. Canada has the most ATM's per capita followed by Belgium, Australia and Russia. 2. ATMs in high-traffic locations can hold as much as $100,000. Guess which day is the most popular to use an ATM?

@dgobucks226 Is it Friday? I can see why they are not as popular as we move towards a cashless society.

My bank is still closed, I can only use the ATM or the drive-thru lanes. No, I don't think about sanitary condition at the ATM, but always keep my own hand clean with sanitary wipes. The steering wheel, also. I wouldn't use the ATM for quite a while, now I'm converted.

I will definitely be aware of using sanitizer after using an ATM. So much bacteria, gross! Yes, I was a late convert to, so convenient and you can use them after bank hours ATM Fun facts: 1. The most popular day to use an ATM machine is a Friday. What a surprise, party lol. 2. . ATMs in high-traffic locations can hold as much as $100,000. 3. The 4-digit pin was inspired by a woman. Originally 6 digits were suggested by John Shepherd-Barron who came up with the idea for ATM's. Upon consulting his wife she said she could only remember four.

I never use an ATM, I can withdraw money inside the Mall at the customer service desk of our grocery store (they debit my credit card). We also have a very convenient system, I withdraw the money from my bank account online, they send an office boy with the cash to my home. I wear disposable gloves if I have to use a credit card machine and I throw them immediately after.

@dgobucks226 I never liked to touch anything that people touch outside. It is incredible how many people have dirty hands and fingers, this is also the reason why I avoid cash and I only use plastic, I do not want to touch money. The microchip on credit and debit cards were invented by a French, Roland Moreno, a very funny guy that we met many times at the Apple Expo in Paris.

I don't use ATMs. The only free one is at the bank and since I'm already there, I use the drive-through teller. I use sanitizer, but I don't have one in the car.

Hopefully the drive thru teller uses sanitizer too (just kidding) I'm sure she does I find ATM's most convenient when I don't want to deal with people and after banking hours are over. I have been using it for years but now I am rather wary. I carry my own sanitizer and always remember to use it. I have reduced the usage to the barest minimum and go where there is the least traffic.

@dgobucks226 I recall three: 1. Teenager - my ATM machine is at home, my parents! 2. One found an ATM card and guessed the pin number 8888 as the name was Chinese and 8 is their lucky number! 3 And some have the password - INCORRECT- as the prompt is clear enough - your password is INCORRECT!

@dgobucks226 Interesting facts. We use the drive-through teller most of the time; but for some transactions, we go inside.

I don't use cash very often. Most of the time I pay with a credit card or with the cell phone app. When I have to withdraw cash I always clean my hands as soon as I get back to the car. I use the ATM, I don't want to wait in line inside if I don't have to, and it is usually much faster to use the ATM.

Yes, good points about the ATM. It makes banking more convenient when cash is needed. Important to clean our hands after using the ATM. I wonder how many fingers touch those key pads a day, yikes! Since the pandemia started, I only shop online through my laptop. All the things I used to do online are now made at home.

@dgobucks226 But asking online is better because you are not tempted by what they have in the shelves.

Very true. I'm sure many people now shop this way. You can charge your items and have them delivered so no need for cash. For me, I still like using cash when I do shop in a store. Otherwise I overspend my budget and buy to much.

I do not use ATM machines. One simple reason: fees. Instead, most stores (such as Walmart or Meijer) will let you get money when you pay for your purchases with your debit card. So, if I need money, I get some groceries (I can always use some bananas) and get $20 with them. Rarely, if I’m at the bank and see that I need money, I’ll withdraw it from my account in the lobby.

I see. My bank does not charge a fee as long as I use a their location. I believe most banks follow that policy. I have no trouble finding one from my bank so fees are not an issue. Yes, forgot about that one. Good point, stores allow you to receive cash back on debit purchases. Make sure you clean your hands after that lobby visit

I do use my driveup ATM at my bank and have sanitizer handy for when I'm done with my transaction. As for deposits I still go though the drive thru and give my deposit to the cashier. I like the convenience of being able to stay in my car while doing both transactions and haven't been inside of the bank since before Covid. I always used hand sanitizer after touching the ATM buttons and withdrawing my money even before Covid.
