Day 43
Exodus 32:7 And the LORD said unto Moses, “Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou brought out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
8 “They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, ‘These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.’”
9 And the LORD said unto Moses, “I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiff-necked people:
10 “Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.”
11 And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, “LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
12 “Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, ‘For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth?’ Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
13 “Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swore by thine own self, and said unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.”
14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
Do people question what you do or the motives behind your actions?
God told Moses to come up the mountain to give him the law. He spent forty days and nights on Mount Sinai with God. At the end of the time, God gave Moses the two tables of stone containing the law and commandments and told him to get back to the people because they had corrupted themselves and turned from Him.
Moses stood in the gap for Israel and reminded God of His promise to bring the people into the Promised Land. When God saw Moses’ heart for the people, He relented of the adversity He would bring upon them.
As Christians, you know prayer works. It changes how you interact with God and how God interacts with you. The world doesn’t see your heart the way God does. They question everything you do in the name of God or the name of Jesus. They look for motives that aren’t there to condemn you of wrongdoing. Yet, when you continue strong in your faith, praying for those who intend to harm you, God sees your heart and hears your prayers for your family, friends, and acquaintances. He listens and will change the course of His actions against them for your sake. They will face the consequences of their actions, but it won’t be as bad as possible without your intervention.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your Son, Jesus, who stood in the gap for me so I could spend eternity with You. Help me stand in the gap for those who don’t know You, so they too will come to know You and accept You as their Savior and Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
