I have 2 kids today with sore throats, fevers, runny noses, hoarseness, and general malaise. I also have another kid who is claiming to have a sore throat, but seems pretty energetic and bouncy compared to the other two (I suspect he just wanted an ice pop, but probably has some allergies too). The youngest one was miserable most of the night and I didn't get a whole lot of sleep because of that, so I called work and stayed home today. It's been a day of chicken soup, ice pops, cartoons, and the occasional nap here and there. I'm a little concerned that the kids picked up something while we were traveling, despite our efforts to mask and wash hands. Crossing my fingers that they recover soon.

I find that ice pop actually bring relieves to the sore throat

In my country, they said that we should not eat that because such food are chilling and that they are food that we should avoid till we recovers.

Yeah, that's why I've been giving them the ice pops. It also helps keep them hydrated.

I hope the kids get better soon! I'm sure you got a lot on your plate taking care of everyone right now - make sure you get some good rest too. I know we all have covid on our minds these days . . . let's hope it's just the ordinary cold/flu thingie!

@DaddyEvil Believe me, I had that worry in the back of my mind too, especially as the youngest (and sickest) one was too young to be vaccinated when we traveled. He's also the one most likely to stick his hands in his mouth and touch everything too, and I'm sure we weren't as careful as I'd like to think.

One of the sick kids is vaccinated against it, but she only had partial immunity while we were traveling. Still, I'm now wondering if it's a different virus that an older sibling picked up from work.

One of the teens just reminded me that they had picked up something at work (they work at a movie theatre), and now I suspect that's what the younger kids have. If that's the case, I'm a bit relieved because it's not the 'Rona.

No matter what you do, you can still get sick. You're not really helping yourselves by over doing it on the sanatizing it. Kids can get the flu, or a headcold. Doesn't have to be cold and flu season.
