I enrolled myself in Visual Arts course at the beginning of this year. I am really loving it.. For our first project, we had to choose one artwork by a contemporary artist and another by a historical artist as our inspirations. and this is one of them.. *The Ifugao Woman* on the left, on the right is what inspired me. by an Aussie Artist *TextaQueen* Done..My art project due on the 14th of May 2021 .. 53x37 cm on paper.. Medium.. texta, coloured pencil, fine liner, and markers... Inspired by TextaQueen's artwork and the Ifugao culture.. .................... ((Arlene TextaQueen is an Australian artist. They primarily work on paper with felt-tip marker pens commonly referred to as textas in Australia. They received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Western Australia in 1995 and a Certificate in Interactive Multimedia from Metro Screen in 1998.. Wikepedia)). .................. (( Ifugaos are the people inhabiting Ifugao Province. They come from the municipalities of Lagawe (Capital Town), Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista, Asipulo, Banaue, Hingyon, Hungduan, Kiangan, Lamut, Mayoyao, and Tinoc. The province is one of the smallest provinces in the Philippines with an area of only 251,778 hectares, or about 0.8% of the total Philippine land area. It has a temperate climate and is rich in mineral and forest products. The term "Ifugao" is derived from "ipugo" which means "earth people", "mortals" or "humans", as distinguished from spirits and deities. It also means "from the hill", as pugo means hill. The term Igorot or Ygolote was the term used by Spanish conquerors for mountain people. The Ifugaos, however, prefer the name Ifugao... Wet rice terraces characterize their farming, supplemented with swidden farming of camote. They are famous for their Banaue Rice Terraces, which became one of the main tourist attractions in the country.
