Can you solve a Rubik's cube

Although I learnt how to solve a Rubik's cube in my childhood, I can't do it now unless I look at instructions and follow it. My son is a different beast. He started learning the cube during the lockdowns of the pandemic and soon started solving in under a minute. I bought him a speed cube and he can now solve it in 30 seconds at times. The record is about 5 seconds. He needs to change his technique to improve his timing, but I don't want to force him to work on his timings as he enjoys solving it a lot. Here is a photo of a solved cube that he just leaves all over the house!

I can. I love puzzles, they're a lot of fun. The cube in particular is pretty great for honing the mind in many things. Your son is pretty impressive, I'm glad he's enjoying it.

@aidels 3 second??!! That sounds impossible for him. I'll try to encourage him to get it down to 20 seconds by the end of this year.

@pitstop Yeah, that'll definitely shave off his time once he masters it. I believe the current record is somewhere around 3 seconds? If you can, I'd totally love to know when he masters it.

No, I may have been able to do one side, but that was it. Even my engineer nephew had to look online how to solve it. Some people seem really good at that type of thing and others have no luck.

@pitstop That is if they learn the steps in the first place. I know that those who do it super fast will actually split it down the middle.
