Odd but welcome

Turning lights on this morning felt odd. The house was so gloomy cause of gray skies. We've had days and days of strong sunlight first thing. I worried that the gray gloom was due to northern fire activity. Then wow whee!! Rain on the windows. Silly Rufus pup went to the front door and inspected it cause rain made noise as it hit the door.
August is here. Four of my siblings have birthdays in August. That means I should get busy and find birthday cards for them. All of them are too far away for any gatherings. This particular August we'll have a realtor over to discuss his ideas on possibly selling our place- the actual listing won't happen until next Spring but the ball will start to roll. And hubby and I and the pups will go on a road trip West for a quick weekend trip. Meantime we tidy and do a little packing and a little tossing of items into the garbage can or the Goodwill box.

Rufus is always curious. My son's birthday is in August. It would be my fondest wish that he be here to celebrate it. He told me when I talked to him a couple of weeks ago, he didn't think he was going to stay down there too much longer, but he seems to always find a reason not to come back. I do know he has been staying in the vicinity of the airport so that is promising I guess.

@rebelann Good question. I only have three chickens left. Two ducks. I will put more food and more water than normal and hope for the best with the birds. We will only be gone about three days total. Going to do the same for the cats.

It poured here yesterday and it smelled SO good. We haven't had any rain since May. I went outside and just took it all in.
It's been dry and hot most of the summer.
My dogs hate going out in the rain.
You have a busy month ahead of you. I'll bet you're excited for the road trip and to get the ball rolling on the sale of your house.

@kaylachan My hubby will retire in a few months. I am not able to manage three acres the way I used to. And my state has two distinct parts to it- right now I live in the dry part where there is less to do; less public transportation. We don't want to spend our retirement years working the land and not much else.

I took a nap with a thunderstorm soundtrack playing and woke up to the real thing. I'm glad for the overcast sky and hope it drives the temps down.
It's always good to get the ball rolling earlier on things like that.

So what did Rufus discover? August is the month where my cat has a birthday. So are they Leos. It is a good idea to plan ahead on moving and getting the ball rolling. Sounds like a good idea a weekend trip. Moving is very stressful as it is and to get a head start on all to do with it is a good idea.
