Why is Florida the new epicenter for Covid?

I read this morning that Florida leads the US for new Covid cases. l also read that new cases are more prevalent in "red" areas than in "blue" ares of the US. Why would this be? God does NOT hate Republicans, in spite of what some snowflakes might think.
I have my hypotheses for both (Spring break, less mask-wearing, etc.), but I'll await your comments and then make my own.

Florida has always been a turist destnation. It also could be more people are getting tested more frequently despite the vaccine being avaible and free of charge. We all know a vaccine doesn't prevent a dease only presumably reduce more severe symptoms. Mask Mandates ended in Florida a month ago, too. Not that everywhere was ever really strict about it.

@TheHorse I'd have to say we most of us had been and continue to remain pretty darn cautious . . . others are selectively cautious. I shake my head about the rest
.
It is really a hard call to say what exactly is the "right" solution in getting through a pandemic. We need to take every precaution we can, but we also have to find a way to continue living. While I am glad I am not in particular situations, all of this pandemic life is still difficult.

I'm cool with LA country (is it LA County?) becoming more cautious. My Japanese restaurant owner friend here is ambivalent. He agrees with getting vaccinated, but he's worried that further restrictions here will hurt his business.

I’d go with the uptick in tourism and the drop in caution.

@wolfgirl569 Did Trump "come to Jesus," admit fault in handling Covid, admit he lost the election, and use his (remaining) money to make sure his followers get vaccinated? I've been too busy to check today's news.

Will following Trump be to his political advantage if he's actually thinking of running for "higher office" in a few years?
When the coronavirus ravaged Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis defiantly bucked mask mandates. In the two weeks since a 12-story condo tower in this coastal community suddenly crumbled, killing at least 64 people, DeSantis has stood somberly with local officials,

I can only guess. My guess would be that lots of people like to go there for their holidays and they bring their virus with them. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Who feels ill when playing at the beach in the fresh air and sunshine? Who tries to be careful? Very few people. After all the image of a healthy, fun, outdoor time would be ruined by worry warts sanitizing, social distancing and wearing masks. It is much more fun to share.

Spring break and not wearing masks probably have a lot to do with it. Maybe the humidity does, too.

I have been saying this for ages now. Following covid protocols is necessary till the last case is recorded ACROSS THE WORLD. If we do not follow the protocols, we are enabling this virus to enter into some animals like cats, dogs, rats cows and even horses. We are not preparing ourselves for the possible mutations in those animals. The virus needs to become extinct because it is highly versatile.

That has been my concern too so I keep o my usual regiment of being more inside than out, However in my area Daytona Beach I can walk to nearby stores on empty streets and not meet a soul and I always stay away from crowds,

I suspect your hypotheses are similar to my own.

@TheHorse I'm likely a little more left of moderate than you are, but we're not far off.

And Florida is our destination in two months. It figures. We watch webcams of Key West; and they never did like wearing masks down there. And the crowds have been thick on the weekends and on holidays such as the 4th of July. Labor Day will be no exception.

@LindaOHio I think he will be indicted. The evidence is too clear. But will it be too "expensive" to convict him? I don't know. I like to see criminals (even if they're black!) do time.

@TheHorse Hubs thinks we should go, wear masks and be careful. Trump will never be indicted.
