Siamese Beau Teak has had four doses of antibiotics. Cats shut down if they don't eat and drink. Their kidneys shut down pretty fast if they don't drink water. I probably sounded like a Mom watching her toddler take a first step when Beau finally went to the fur kid's watering pan and took big slurps of water. Precious.
Now if only he would eat. He is one of those kitty cats who prefers to spear his food. He likes to spear the food, toss it out of the bowl and eat it from the floor. He did that trick to a piece of canned yummy then didn't eat it. Boo hoo. He did take a few sips of nutrition yeast, though. Then Rufus snuck in and slurped the whole bowl. Stinker pup.
I am grateful that he appears to be breathing better. I guess this is going to be a hard illness for Beau to climb out of.

It's a good day when they get better.
I wasn't here to hear of Leah. I'm sorry.
I have two here that are nearing the end. They both have the heart trouble that took most of our Bostons here.
They are already years past the normal lifespan but this summer, the same signs started appearing in these two. They have slowed down to a crawl most often and little seizures are more frequent.
They are both eating and taking water and going outside.
They are comfortable and I go out of my way to make things easier.
I just know how this ends and I'm a little sad.
Yes, I'll still have the youngest pup, Blue but it hurts. Deep hurt. I can't do anything to stop it. Good days and bad days here.
I am really glad that Beau has shown improvement.
Your title is so true. Cherish those moments.

@Vikingswest1 There's the craziness of pup days and the terrible burden of the end coming. I'm sorry that your two are nearing their crossing time. My Sally is about twelve. I must be more patient. She's shuffling more than walking cause she's been an athlete all her life. Hugs from me.

Thank you for that. I'm just a little soft tonight. Sorry. I've been buying cans of tuna and handing them out here too. Rufus is a stinker. Much like Blue here. I put things down for the girls and he appears out of nowhere and tries to beat them to it.
I sure am glad that Beau perked up a bit. Give Sally an ear scratching for me, ok?

Good luck with Beau Teak. I know how frustrating it can be to get ill cats to eat. They are generally on the finicky side even when well. I was worried alot about Nico yesterday as he was just in the bedroom sleeping most of the day, and even when out here. He still wanted to sleep. However, he made up for it in the evening.running around and jumping half the night. Have you tried the babyfood?

@snowy22315 I forgot to buy some baby food when I was in town. I'll have to get some next time I head out. I'm currently working with a can of tuna.

Our cats do that too. They prefer eating off the floor. Glad that your pet started with slurping water. He will soon have his food too. Those antibiotics are harsh.

@allknowing Thank you for your comment. Beau is acting hungry today. He still is too congested so he isn't eating. I've gotten liquid yeast water down him, though.
