After years of persisting with an initially good AC, but one which needed (often) costly repairs/servicing after that, we went for a new one.
The older one, which we negotiated in an exchange program was of Voltas brand. Not a bad one, but one which gave problems after the initial few years.
The new one is a Window AC from Hitachi brand.
It is much needed as we have very high humidity on many days plus dry heat days as well.

Well we switch it off when it gets too cold. Anyways we have set the current temperature range between 25 to 27 C- not so cold. Thanks for your wishes.

Thanks for your wishes.
I am in a rented place and might have to move to another rented one in some years.
Split ones add additional fitting and drilling charges and even gas filling for split ACs is higher.
So Windows ones suited me.

I live in Hyderabad and temperatures reach 43 to 44 C in May. Mid March to Mid June we have it tough and cannot survive with Air Conditioners unless we live in ground floor. We have two window ACs and one split. All are LG and working though they do need periodic cleaning up. Compressor gives way once in a while...twice I think across 17 years. There is some fluid that needs to be replaced, I think we had that four or five times. Rest of the time, we only call to get it cleaned up and serviced. But as I said, we use it only for those three months each year, and all are not used simultaneously. I cannot afford the power bills. LOL

Simultaneous use means more bills as well as in some cases, it would need more load to be sanctioned- and consequently some paper work.
Now we are also planning to have a pigeon net behind the AC as pigeons leave a lot of dirt and filth. The problem is the backside of AC is in a slightly inaccessible location so we need to see how to get it done.

In Covid times, we are reluctant to get repair or service people too much inside our home.
We even have some carpenter's work pending but kind of delaying it.

The earlier one had some really tricky issues over the last few years.
It costed Rs. 7000 one year, 4 to 5 some other years. Plus we suspected that our bills were going higher due to its being ineffective.
Many service and repair people were not fully able to solve the problem.
So even though costlier, but we went for a new one.

Thanks. It has rained here quite a lot during the last two days and the weather is pleasant now. How is the weather in your place?

Western Rajasthan in general would be getting lesser rains or is it for this year only?

Thanks a lot. I saw in a Vlog posted by some Canada based Indians that due to unprecedented heat in some Canadian regions, there was a shortage of mobile ACs.
So how are you managing there?

Meaning centralized AC cooling within an apartment complex or something like the room heating that I saw in England?

At times we have to take some decisions. Yet it proved to be within my planned budget and I was also able to exchange the older one.
Thanks for your wishes.

My ac window type is hitachi also. It's a good brand. But old already and its not inverter type. Don't know when will we change ac.
It's great you have new ac. That saves more energy than the old one

It was 8 years old and was giving problems. A lot of my friends have had Hitachi one and pretty satisfied with it. We are hoping for good results.

Our older one worked well for the first two years. Then it had problems with cooling - gas leakages and other issues, issues with its controller and condenser etc.

Something similar to what we faced.

AC was earlier also but it was not cooling properly. So we had to take this decision- a bit hard since it costs a lot more than repairs but hopefully if it proves good, it would be cost effective in the longer run.

Yes ACs are an important part of our lives now. Especially in the hot and humid weather.

Plus once one gets used to room heating or air conditioning regularly, then also one finds it difficult otherwise.

Initially I had planned to buy in April this year. Then things started getting bad this side in Delhi.
So we just got servicing and repair for our older one.
For a few weeks, it seemed to perform ok. Then problems started showing up - especially during close to 40 C and above weather and in humidity.
It did not cool enough.
So I had to take a decision. I did explore a few options.
Inverter AC was one but I have evaluated that Inverter ACs would need higher maintenance. Plus it has higher cost as well and saved power bill won't compensate that much.
In any case, only time will tell but I am hopeful that this AC would be better.
Plus I am aware about more things as compared to 8 years earlier.

We had some really tough days.
Nearly 41 C temperature, high humidity and AC not cooling enough.
So we had to decide to go in for a new one.
Thanks for your wishes.
I hope that you had a great day!

Having a good AC is really worth it especially in that kind of weather. We have similar weather too and can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be without AC.

Plus sleep and work better! My office laptop generates a lot of heat and the new AC would be good for that.
