Soon no indoor dining in NYC

Unless you are vaccinated. At least with one dose. Mayor deBlasio is doing that in an effort to get more people vaccinated. You can still dine outdoors if you are not vaccianted. This makes no sense. For one, vaccinated people can still get covid and spread it to others. Just because they show proof of vaccination does not mean they are covid free. Also, how does spreading covid to others differ when people are indoors as opposed to outdoors? If both can dine outdoors then both should be able to dine indoors. I will not be getting the vaccine. Guess that means no more indoor dining for me. And no more indoor concerts either, as they will require vaccination to attend. My Elton John concert that has been postponed due to covid and rescheduled for 2022 will not happen for me. I was so excited about finally getting to see him live in concert...

It is so easy just to get the shot. I hope more cities follow in de Blasio's footsteps.

Getting the vaccine should be a choice not a mandate. And what about those that cannot get the shot for medical reasons?

@lovebuglena It isn't a mandate. You are free to remain unvaccinated.

@NJChicaa It is a "mandate" if you wanna do certain things like dine indoors, go to a gym, etc. In this case, you either get the vaccine, even if you don't want to, or you don't get to dine indoors, go to a gym...

I agree with you....even I don't want to get vaccinated...its stupidity and the governments are making it mandatory, that is utter stupidity I don't understand what is the point of getting vaccinated when it does guarantee you of covid free.

@lovebuglena exactly...I fully concur with you....the trials are not complete....and they are making it mandatory that the worst case....don't force upon when the vaccine can't be covid free

@S4mmyboy And these vaccines were developed before the delta variant and other variants even existed. So they can't be effective in battling that.

Maybe come March 2022 this new mandate will not be in place anymore and I will get to go.

From what I've read, the risk of getting infected by the virus is higher in closed areas, so I think that might be the reason behind the rule. Our government is also considering to lift certain restrictions for those who are vaccinated.

@lovebuglena That's what some people here think as well. It's not made mandatory but unvaccinated people will be left with no choice if they want to enjoy certain things.

@cahaya1983 To me that is "being forced" to get it. It's like them saying your life can't go back to normal unless you get the vaccine.

Maybe that is true. But I think our mayor is doing that on purpose to force people to get the vaccine, since if you don't get it you won't be able to dine indoors, or do some of the other things that vaccinated people get to do.

Concert is not cancelled. But if at that time they will require everyone to be vaccinated to attend it I won't be able to because I will not be getting the vaccine.

It is said that outdoors the virus has less chance of spreading because of the wind, etc. So sorry about the Elton John Concert. This restaurant thing is going to mess up the NYC planned event coming up.

Fingers crossed that by March 2022 they will not require everyone to be vaccinated to attend it and I will still be able to go.

Even though indoor dining is open here there are still restaurants that choose to only do take-out or delivery. I don't get it.
