Waited a long time for the bus

I went to get my hair blown out today. To get there I have to walk about 23 minutes and then take two buses. Decided to use my iPhone map app to ask for transit directions to the salon just so it can tell me what time my first bus will arrive. I got to the bus stop with plenty of time to spare before its arrival. It never showed up. When I went on the bus time website for that bus to see what's going on I was told that the bus will now get to my stop much later. Ended up waiting 25 or so for the damn bus. Thankfully, the second bus arrived a minute after I got to the stop.
After the salon I went to a few stores and then had to take one bus home. When I got to the bus stop I thought I'd have to wait a while for the bus but luckily it came soon after.
When I got home I felt tired and sweaty but at least my hair was done. Maybe next time I will schedule an appointment to do my hair for when hubby has his day off. This way he can drive me and pick me up. Will save me lots of time and energy. Or perhaps schedule it for Thursday when hubby goes to work later so I can at least get a ride to the salon.

i think that your husband driving you sounds like a better idea than waiting for the bus. i hope the temperature wasn't too high.

The temperature was in low 80s F (mid-20s C) I think but for some reason I was hot and sweaty. Maybe humidity was high.

I bet your hair looks lovely Lena.
It must be a good salon to go that far.
Glad you got home safe.
I used to do those blow outs when I did hair. Would love to do yours.
Could always do my own but I used to enjoy someone else doing it too.

If I wash it myself and just dry it so it's not wet, without doing an actual blow out, I have a lot of hair and it's a poodle-like mess. I cannot blow it out myself. I need a pro to do it for me.
I'd rather go to the salon. I just wish it didn't cost me $30 + $5 tip total for wash guy and hair stylist. And I wish it was a shorter commute to get there and without making me tired, hot, and sweaty when it's summer.
$35/week for blowout is $140/month. That's a lot! I can maybe do it every 10 days as opposed to every week so that will only cost me $35 x 3, which would be $115.

@lovebuglena Yes it surely is and they should give you a discount for being a loyal client.

@RebeccasFarm It's a Turkish salon. At least the owner, who is also my hairstylist, is Turkish.

@lovebuglena My hair was down to my behind in the back before I cut it. I can't remember if I cut it before or after I had the stroke but it was too heavy and giving me headaches. It really helped getting the weight off. I love my hair short now and just in the last few weeks have been letting it grow out a bit. We may have hair for Fall. When I got it chopped off I had it above shoulders but I ended up with a short Pixie.

I think this time I didn't wash/blowout my hair for two weeks. That's too long. I should do it either once a week or every ten days or so.
Certainly better than having to deal with washing the hair myself and then drying it so it's not wet. And I don't have to deal with picking up a lot of hair from the bathtub and floor.

@lovebuglena It would be a lot better than spending so much time waiting for the bus.

Best to have a relative take you to the salon instead of taking a bus.

My husband is the only one who can really take it, assuming he doesn't have to go to work on his day off.

This salon is not far from me if you drive. I'd say like a ten minute drive or so. But if you take public transportation it can be close to an hour or more, depending on how long you have to wait for each bus.
There is a closer salon but since I already know the guy in the other salon I don't want to go to one where I've never been.
Once I get to the first bus stop, if the bus comes and I don't really have to wait for it, it's probably 5 min ride or so till the next bus. And that bus is a very short ride as well. The issue is how long I have to wait for each bus.

@LindaOHio The one I went to, this is the guy I used to go to when his salon was in Brooklyn. I know the guy. I prefer to go to him than to some stranger I do not know. My mom goes to him all the time when she has to color and cut her hair.

Yeah. Before the pandemic I used travel to a Chinese hair salon. It would be over an hour commute to get there.

I tried. I cannot do my own hair. I need a professional.
