Felt the skies calling for me so I spent some time in my elevated garden pruning the plants and tilling some soil. There was a new butterfly fluttering and a new bee buzzing. Seeing the insects still pollinating gave me a sense of hope that the world will become better still. My daughter told me that when the butterflies and the bees become extinct, that's the end of the human race. Oh well.....
Felt a bit giddy after the yard work and decided to relax with my favorite pastime - watching movies. The genre is not difficult to pick. Partial for heartfelt stories that pervades the senses.
So there was I with potato fries for snacks - legs sprawled up high again on movies made before I was born.
Oliver Twist, 1948 was in black and white. My daughter exclaimed when she saw the dark film rolling. 'What!'
A Dog of Flanders, 1958 was already in color. The backdrop was the windmills of Belgium and Holland. My daughters refrain from watching dog stories because they couldn't bear the cruelty to canines.
Francis of Assisi, 1961 was faithful to the story of Francis of Assisi, as compared to the more romantic Brother Sun, Sister Moon.
Four more moving stories but of recent production:
Rain - a story of a German Shepherd's adventures in war,
Miracle In The Woods - a story of a mother who longed to see the son taken away from her for fifty years,
Treasures in the Snow - a young boy's search to belong,
and,
Yesterday's Children - a Jane Seymour starrer about dreams, reincarnation, and the ability of the soul to speak through someone.....
Have you seen any of these movies?

Prepare your snacks. Better viewing with food ready to eat.
My daughter ordered querida mia verde and burrito plus nachos for me. With tea.

The genre might not be your cup of tea.
Yup, the birds, the butterflies and the bees are back in my garden. A sight to see!

The movies bring me places that I love to see. The snow-capped mountains are so majestic, the hills spell the simplicity of pastoral life, and the woods are mysterious.
The plots and characters vary but each movie leaves a certain significant tale to remember.
