Here we call them chips and they are the most loved fast food especially in cities and major towns. I sometimes find myself craving for them and the feeling won't go not until I have it in my mouth lol! What's that thing that you can't resist it's craving no matter what you do? Have a good morning/afternoon/evening or night mylotters.

@Laurakemunto I'm not doing any candies, chips or many cookies for another week. I'm wanting to drop a few pounds. So no chocolate.

@cacay1 It's only American who call the fried potatoes sticks "French fries" and there is a reason.
It's said that this dish was discovered by American soldiers in Belgium during World War I.
In Belgium the dominant language is French so they called the "Belgian" potatoes “French” fries.

They call them chips in England too. I wonder how they got the name French Fries. That's what we say here in the US. I crave miso soup, hot and sour soup (which I haven't had in awhile), Thai soup, sushi, and a few other things. Not all at once, though.

In the UK they have a number of words for different types of potato foods. They call French fries just fries, and thicker-cut fries that come from a chip shops are called chip.
So the thicker cut is Chips for them. And slightly thinly cut French fries are just fries
