I saw this meme on Facebook; and I had to share it because it mirrors my feelings exactly. It almost made me cry.
Those dog lovers out there should know exactly what I mean. We love our fur babies so much and want to do everything we can to make them comfortable and happy and to protect them from all harm...but we can't make them live longer. So sad.

It reminded me of the four dogs we have lost over the years. I wanted them to stay with me forever.

i read a great piece once. A little boy was asked. Why do dogs live so short a life? The little boy said, "because they give perfect love, they don't need years to practice."

What a great quote. Our dogs were like children to us, especially since we didn't have children. They never live long enough!

@LindaOHio i sometimes remember all the dogs that graced my days. they stretch back so far, but without a doubt, my life is richer for the time they spent with me!

I never had to take our dogs to the vet for the final shot. My husband was the brave person that had to endure that task.

And cats as well. When I arrived in Florida I had carried Sid through 3 airports and then he stayed with me a little over a year and went to be with his Papa, I did look up to the heavens and said Hey guys, thanks for leaving me down here all along but I know they watch over me,

It really is sad. Our sweet cat Gracie is getting old along with us. She sleeps more now, and although she doesn't like to be petted, she's always close by when we're outside.
