Wrong delivery address

My mom called me yesterday and told me that she ordered a Dyson vacuum for herself to be shipped to my house as she is away right now. She ended up making a typo and instead of 17 she wrote 18 for the house number. She didn't even know she did that until she received an email with shipment/delivery details.
She asked me to let the neighbors know in case the package comes to them. That's when I told her that there is no house number here that's 18. The house numbers in our section are odd. I found a number for her to call so she can correct the mistake before the item ships out. Thankfully, she was able to do that. If it wasn't for that email she got I wonder what would have happened to the delivery.

Yes. But now I have no idea when it will arrive. It was originally supposed to come the 30th. I hope it won't get delivered on the second because I will not be home that day.

@LindaOHio The vacuum came today. I saw the UPS truck out the window and went downstairs in case it was our delivery. Opened the door and sure enough it was our package being delivered as the guy came up to me to confirm my name before he went to get the box. He then told me that the package said 18 on it. I looked at the shipping labels and sure enough they said 18. I wonder why the labels were not updated and what would happen if I wasn't home. I am not 100% sure but when I opened the door it seemed like the guy came from around the corner, which is house #19.

Yep. My mom told me that she made that mistake because of her sister-in-law. I guess she was placing the order at the same time that both of them were talking.

@RebeccasFarm If the address existed you'd hope the neighbors would bring the package over once they got it. No guarantee of that though. But I'd think our neighbors would.

Worst case she would have to pick it up somewhere. Or, it might get returned to sender. Good thing you won't have to find out, and it'll get to you safe and sound.

If the address doesn't exist it would probably get returned to the sender. I am glad she was able to update the address. Now I have no idea when the package will arrive. I hope the package won't come on Sept. 2nd as I won't be home that day. Originally it was supposed to come on the 30th.

Good that things got straightened out in time. My next building neighbour had ordered iphone and she typed my door number in address..It was delivered to us. Actually our door number is same and our address differs only by a single digit in our building number.

At least the address she entered actually exists. And then you gave the neighbor your package. There are people who get someone else's package and then keep it for themselves.

@lovebuglena Her name was on the package and I knew it was for her. Her husband came to collect it. And from that day they have become good friends. Earlier it was just acquaintance.

@lovebuglena no, it was the show. the guy left vacuum to someone in the Museum who could fix it, but the vacuum accidentally ended at modern art exhibition and someone wanted to buy it

Yeah. It was good that my mom was able to contact them and make the change. Now the delivery is delayed. I am thinking it's because she changed the address.
