Day 77
1 Samuel 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod.” And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David.
8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, “Shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And he answered him, “Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.”
What do you do when you do everything right and your life sees only crisis?
David fled for his life from Saul, who hunted him to kill him. When it looked like he would never be free from Saul, David fled to Achish in Gath, king of the Philistines, and lived among them in Ziklag. David caused himself to look good in Achish’s eyes so that when it came to going to battle with Israel, David made to go with him, but the princes of the Philistines objected and told Achish to send David and his men away. When David and his men returned to Ziklag, an army of Amalekites came against Ziklag, burned the city, and took their wives and children. David’s men wanted to stone him, but David encouraged himself in the LORD. He sought God’s will in going after the Amalekites. God told him to pursue. He would get back everything they stole from him.
As Christians, Satan comes against you, doing everything he can to cause your faith to waver and deny God and Jesus, your Savior. However, you need to do what David did—encourage yourself in the Lord and He will bring you through the crisis.
Jesus told His disciples what Satan’s mission was in their lives.
John 10:10 The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
David encouraged himself in the LORD. You need to do the same when Satan comes against you. When you do, God will bring you success. With success, your faith will increase. You will know you can trust God in every area of your life.
What battles do you face?
Let’s pray: Father, give me strength during the battle. Let me remember all those times You came through for me as I encourage myself in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Thank you for the reminder. This is a NOW word for me. I should always remind myself of John 10:10. Lord Jesus came to earth to give us life. But the enemy is the opposite.
