Do you create your own word(s) for certain things or circumstances?

Although I see Google claims it is already a word and means something else. Google is wrong!!! "A Snurtle is an alternate version of a Slurtle with a different kind of shell, which absorbs 80% of damage." POPPYCOCK AND BALDERDASH SAYS I I'm sorry, Google and Wiki and Fandom and whoever. Snurtles live in water, and you never see more than an inch or so of their head pop out and look and you and they disappear. No one has ever seen more than that. No one knows what kind of body they have, if they have hands and feet or flippers, tail, whatever. Just ask any serious fisher. They'll tell ya about it. Just ask 'em.

I often make up words so I don't say bad words. Then other times I just say the bad words. Cool image above, didn't know you were a teacher.

I have made up all kinds of words and sometimes used words to replace curse words, Back in high school if we cussed in class we were in all kinds of trouble but I just could not help myself with that F---k-word whenever anything went wrong so I taught myself to say fudge instead,

I thought a snurtle was "snot a turtle" when I read about it from you. Never heard of it otherwise.

I don't usually make up words on purpose, but sometimes someone accidentally comes up with something funny and it just sticks...

Oh yah, this is better known as a mermaid, that lives inside a turtle shell:) Her mother wanted to name her Mertyl but she had a terrible head cold at the time. So it came out 'Snurtle'

I thought it was some sort of Pokemon. I know, sucks when someone has already stolen your fresh idea... years before. I write in English more than I speak; I hardly ever come up with new words unless they're typos, but if I do they might not sound nice. Yours are way betterererererer than mine.

I can not remember when I made up a word but I'm sure that I must have. But since nobody decided to use it I guess I forgot it. My husband loved to fish but I never heard him use the word "snurtle".

Never seen a Snurtle myself, but then I'm not a fisherman. I've made up plenty of words--and sometimes I say words that I've borrowed from other folks.

Definitely. I've long done that; I blame my tendency toward playing writer for that. These days, I especially do this with our cats. An entire section of my idiolect is devoted to cat-centric words and expressions.
