The Delivery Service

In my area, we have several grocery stores that deliver. We have been utilizing this service so that my daughter doesn't have to trudge her way home with a basket full to overflowing with groceries for the entire month. We had have been using Albertson's for several months. In the last few months, their service has gotten worse and worse. Finally August was the worst yet. We had ordered our regular amount of which several things were usually not in stock. This particular time they brought us about half of what we ordered and the missing items weren't even out of stock. Just not added to the order. This is very frustrating. So we changed our service to Walmart and are very happy with the change. Do you ever use a delivery service?

Depends on what it is. Some things I'm quite happy using Amazon. For groceries, I prefer to go in-person.

I've never used a delivery service. I have always liked Albertsons. I buy from Safeway partly cause their produce is generally so much nicer than Walmarts.

My grandfather was a manager at Safeway here for many years. He actually trained Joe Albertson back many a moon ago. My grandma used to love to tell that story.

@celticeagle I can see why you changed your delivery service. They sound horrible the ones you used before. Yes, I have used a delivery service for things and once a long time ago for groceries I ordered online.

We only have one store that delivers; and it doesn't carry very much. The Walmart here doesn't deliver.

Since the start of the pandemic, we have come to split between having groceries delivered and doing curbside pickup. This is a fairly reasonably sized city, so there are several options for both. Unfortunately, there are a couple of places that I discovered just beyond delivery range that I like; those have to be reserved for when we have the time to trek out to them to do curbside. As to the point about shortages, they are currently just at minor annoyance level. I tend to do large shops with the assumption that X percent won't be available, and I am just pleasantly surprised when it is.

Nice to have options. I have gotten used to the shortages and am also pleasantly surprised when I can get the full amount of toilet paper that I want. I have a thing about needing to have enough of that stuff available.

@celticeagle I use an online service for paper goods. Even that, though, has had some shortages. The thing is, the shortages we see now are going to be standard in the coming years. There will continue being supply chain issues due to a variety of factors.

It is a nice option if you have no other way to get a lot of groceries home.
