Doctors are responding to my messages
September 14, 2021 2:03pm CST
Today, I got a phone call from the medical assistant to my primary care provider. They are ordering the medications I'm out of to tide me over until I can get in for an appointment in four weeks, which was set up for me. (Updated: 2:00 p.m.--The order for the two medications have been faxed to the pharmacy. I will go by to Naval Hospital and pick them up in a little bit.) They will sign off on another bone density scan referral, so I will be able to make that appointment and my mammogram (self-referral okay) for the same day, whenever that will be. As well, the order for the second pneumonia shot will be scheduled for the same day as the appointment next month. She also scheduled the annual exam for January, but I am on a waiting list for both appointments, just in case there are cancellations and I can get in last minute. I reminded her that all these appointments would be made, but there may be some conflict, not knowing the scheduling through the Cancer Care Alliance. She understood. I also heard back through the MyChart messaging system from the oncologist consultant, Dr. Wu, who responded herself with a kind message about understanding how the stress can be hard to deal with. She ended with "Looking forward to seeing you next week. Zheng" She signed it with her first name. That shocked me. I really do like her. So, things are on a roll. I cannot make them go any faster, but the ball is rolling, and the momentum will take over. At least, I am not sticking my head in the sand right now.
