Do You Have Time For Crafts Anymore?

There was a time when I did little else. My sister taught me to crochet and my first project was probably a mile long chain. At least it seemed that long before she decided that the chain looked good enough to move on to the next lesson. ;) I just wondered for a second what might have become of that chain now that I'm thinking about it lol! Sadly, I have little time left for crocheting or anything else for that matter. Wasn't the internet supposed to make life easier for you? If anything else, I became busier than ever. I think that little "box" on my desk took the place of a basket of wool, my favorite crochet magazines and all my hooks. I even got good enough to publish a few designs. My favorite design was an old fashioned upside down doll and I still have that magazine with it featured. And then there were my "Miami Mice" lol... I sold a ton of them... And then the internet hit and I forgot all about crafts... Are you still busy making things from your kitchen table? Would love to hear ;)

I did a lot of craft when I was in school and later a teacher. I also helped my children with their school craft. I knitted a lot when I was young, but now I have stopped as my hands pain and it's not good for my eyes.

I can see how that would hamper your crafting. Hope your pain lessens. You did make a good point about affecting the eyes. Never considered that!!

@Hate2Iron Eye sight does weaken along with age. I therefore do not take the risk.

I don't do much now but used to do a lot of crochet. Certainly the internet takes up a lot of my time.

I also think that the internet has done a number on my patience... I don't have any of that anymore, and there is just so much I want to do.

@Hate2Iron I think most people are now into instant gratification, aren't they? No-one likes waiting.

LOL... I tried to teach one of my granddaughters to crochet only to discover you can't teach a left hander if you are right handed ;) I tried art and was toooo hard on myself. I recently started decorating my own book with doodles lol. No one but I see them but I'm enjoying it immensely! Now, hubby probably wishes I could cook lol.

Almost two years ago i was into crochet and i made two baby blankets. One o for each of my nieces. I also made baby shoes. I was also into greeting card making. During the lockdown last year, i was into journaling. But i got bored and i got into gardening. I collected indoor plants. Too many of them now i don’t have time for crafting anymore. But once in awhile I’m thinking of cross stitching or painting.

I use a digital planner these days. No more paper journals for me. I could still do that things i could on a paper planner though like writing on it, i use an apple pen, adding stickers and washi tapes, all digital. @Hate2Iron

I gave all my crafting items to Goodwill. The arthritis in my hands doesn't allow me to do needlework, etc. anymore.

That's really too bad. So far I have been lucky. Just not enough hours in a day and too many other things to do!

@Hate2Iron Set aside 1/2 hour a couple of times a week to sit down, relax and do crafts.

That would be so much better! Most of the time I was reading a pattern or writing down the instructions as I went.

I enjoy doing crafts but never was one to do them day in and day out. Just if I saw something and wanted to make it. I can't crochet but I do like to cross stitch but haven't in a long time.

I seemed to live with a crochet hook in my hand... did some cross stitch too. Forgot about that. I even remember my favorite size of hook... it was 4:50 or was it 4.50?? It has been a really long time lol.
