A few minutes ago, I was in the Race & Sportsbook, ready to place my bet on @FourWalls #1 choice for her "Songs You Might Not Know Were Covers" series. I had it all figured out. It must be Jackson. Because most people have heard the song and everyone thinks Johnny Cash & June Carter or Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra wrote it. And neither group is right. Both of those teams had a hit with it in 1967 but they didn't write it or record it first. ::SPOILER ALERT:: It was written by Billy Edd Wheeler and Jerry Leiber and Billy was the first to record it. So it must be #1. And I was just about to prove it with a huge bet, $3, that would get me even again plus a little extra----Even after I paid back the loans I took out to finance this because I don't have $3 in liquid assets. Or any assets. That's when my Bookie, Shifty, The Norwegian, said, "What about 'The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia?' 1991 is a lot more recent and therefore relevant than 1967, you know." I registered my surprise by uttering a word that nearly got me kicked out of Caesars Palace. My friend, Lewd Louie, one of the Pit Bosses, told me to can the dirty talk or leave. Then he explained that in the old days, Vinnie and Tony would take people like me out into the desert, wash their mouths out with soap and leave them there. He had a point. People come to a casino to drink and gamble and maybe buy drugs and/or sex, not to listen to foul language. So I apologized and turned my attention back to Shifty. "Do you really think 24 years makes a big difference?" "Lights was a big hit for Reba McEntire, it's the one most people remember and it also hit #1 in '73. I don't know if it's number #1 in this series but I bet it hits higher than Jackson. But whadda I know? I'm just a Bookie. You bet your borrowed money any way you want." So I did the logical thing. I went back to my suite (They give high rollers like me anything we want and one of the things I want is a 14 room suite. Nothing flashy. Just 3 hot tubs and one on the balcony) and now I'm rethinking my music-post-betting strategy.

@FourWalls No but that doesn't make any difference. People are gonna stoop and bow! I don't care about the stooping and bowing all that much but if it makes them happy, fine. The important part is that all them women are gonna make me teach em' what they don't know how. I really enjoy teaching.
