We might put this on our bucket list

They are building a big, new school opposite our new home. It’s due to open early in the new year which is the start of the Australian school year. As you might imagine, there has been a lot of activity there and from time to time something catches our attention.
This great long whatever pours concrete into hard-to-reach places. Vin and I call it a proboscis. Vince said it’s operated from the skinny end which makes sense as the other end is often out of sight from where the concrete is needed.
At the other end of the school, a big new community centre is being built. This will be useful for our ‘village’ as, once the 150 houses here are complete and occupied, the clubhouse will be too small for some of the functions that are held for the residents.

@JudyEv Yes, it is. I would have thought the footings for everything had to be laid before anything else was done.

@DaddyEvil You can't see where the cement is going but it could be for footpaths or something like that, not necessarily stuff to do with the actual buildings.

That must be fun watching them pour the concrete up and over the buildings. Sounds like a heck of a lot more activity there than in the old place

Our friend who lives up a few houses was a plumber so he enjoys watching the construction work. We do too really. Sometimes there are guys crawling all over the roof, putting in skylights or whatever.

The social butterfly that you are, I bet you will be making use of that community center soon enough.

A lot of activity indeed. Yet won't it make your surroundings much more crowded?
Or would it be within limits?

I suppose that all this has been planned by the authorities, including additional parking space, traffic signs and lights etc.

The actual village is a fenced area so can't get more crowded in terms of buildings but there will be more people within our area. And 'outside' there are a great many new houses being built so yes, I guess it will become more crowded.

@RebeccasFarm All the houses in our village are 'buy outright' and there is one village in the northern suburbs which is similar but all the other retirement places work on a land lease arrangement.

I hope the community center and school do as you hope it will.

Wow. A development for the community. It will be a great help for students to be near their school.
