Textbroker and Other Writing Places

Hello to you all. How are you? Yesterday (I think it was yesterday), someone mentioned that they had been doing some work through Textbroker. Forgive me, I don't remember who it was. I remembered that I am an author on Textbroker as well. I went to check it out as I had entirely forgotten about its existence. I think I joined at the time I was looking for new sites, and signed up to several. I never got any clients from it and wasn't sure how to go about doing that. Anyway, I popped back on today and updated my profile. I'm still not sure that I'll get anything. There was another site I used to use called Constant Content. I don't remember much about it, but that was another one to which I tried to return. I believe I'd written a few things. There was one article, in particular, that I'd been wanting to find. I found it on Constant Content. I tried to log in - I couldn't, presumably because it had been such a long time that I had been on that they'd deactivated my account. I did have the option of trying again to be accepted by them. Strangely, however, my new application wasn't accepted. I say 'strangely' because I'd written for them before, my writing had improved since then, and I'd even got an English degree in that time. I thought it odd that they wanted my work before all that, but it was somehow not good enough now. Once I realised I wasn't going to be accepted again, I contacted Constant Content to ask if I could, at least, have access to the articles I'd written for them. I wasn't going to pay them the $25 they were asking for my own work. They contacted me back to ask me for some information, which I gave. I never heard from them again. It's nice to see that someone is earning from my work! The annoying thing is, I don't know if I saved that particular article anywhere else and it was a really good one! I digress on that one. I used to write for Bubblews and, before that, Helium. Neither of them exists any more. I now write for Vocal Media, where I write my own content and earn through newsfeeds. I don't really bother with places that offer set articles or specific writing jobs. The main reason for that is because, since Helium's Market Place, I haven't found anywhere that fits what I want to do in a way that works. I did have an advert on Journalism.co.uk. I got some work through that, but didn't have the money to renew my advert the last time! Do any of you have experience with Textbroker? Do you use anything similar, or any you would recommend? Or shall I just stick with offering my services privately without going through one of those third party sites? Edit: the discussion that inspired this was by @kobesbuddy

They all got a lot more strict, some want id's and some ask for background checks. I am like dude, you all can get that anyway, can get my id, I am not sure whats going on, just thinking's they weeding out people because they do not like them or they do not frequent them enough. I actually get that on survey sites now, I be like dude I do to many you run out and its just crap and that's where they make the money when its crap. So its another lesson in capitalism only pays the rich.

I don't think there was an issue with IDs for what I was trying to do. I do wonder if they just don't want such good quality really because then the good writers will find other work and abandon the site - I don't know, I'm just guessing. I know what you mean with the survey sites. I gave up with a lot of them. I use Swagbucks and Lifepointspanel now. They both pay (eventually) in PayPal, and I know they pay. As for others, you spend forever answering questions only to be told that you don't qualify for the survey!

@pumpkinjam It is interesting, I am not sure what to do anymore I am so confused, do I sound good, do I need to sound dumb. Every place is different and think people trying and they usually so strict because they want the best and brightest people but you pay crap and they done with your stupid rules. Lifepoints is not bad, actually one of the places where I said did all the good ones survey junkie is another rest pays crap. Branded surveys is about to run me out of town with their dumb you need to answer this nonsense or you can not take part. Fine I am done with nonsense that just wastes my time. I always look to survey sites because shows you what corporate America is doing and should say corporate world. . They spy on us I spy on them.

@pumpkinjam Try Prolific. I think that UK residents can join. I've never gotten disqualified for a survey/study.

I recently tried to get in with Textbroker; but they needed a resume, past articles (most of the sites have tanked), blog, etc. I was not accepted. I was shocked because I have written more than 2,000 reviews and articles with excellent feedback. Writer Access, Noise.Cash and HubPages are others that you might try. I have been on a writing sabbatical and have been inactive for almost 2 years. Can't seem to get my writing mojo going. I also have an account with Vocal Media; but I have not written for them either. Good luck!

I have the same problem with articles being on sites that no longer exist. I don't usually save them anywhere else either (I probably should). I went on Textbroker again today to see what work is available. There is nothing at all available. They say your level is based on one article (I have no idea what article they've used for mine). It seems the only way to improve is by getting more work, which of course you can't get if there's nothing available. I've never heard of Writer Access or Noise.cash. I think I mentioned to another person that I looked at Hub Pages but wasn't sure if it would be worth it. It seems very similar to Vocal - and there is Medium, which also seems to be similar. I'm debating which to try but mindful of taking on too much.

@LindaOHio I'll have to check if any charge. Vocal has two tiers - one free and one premium for $10 a month. Worth it if you've got the time to post a lot, but not if, like me, you're lucky to write one article every few months! Are the others you mention free to use? There was another site I saw. I think it was called Ghost. That was similar again but they didn't seem to have a free option.

@pumpkinjam With Medium don't you have to pay $5 per month?

I used to write for Bubblews until they were no longer there. I do write for HubPages. I haven't tried Textbroker. I hope you find a spot that is perfect for you.

Thank you. I have heard of HubPages. I think a few myLotters have mentioned it. I looked into it, but I wasn't sure if that would be right for me. It seems similar to Vocal where you get paid for views, but I couldn't find enough information to convince me to give it a go. I don't want to be sharing the same articles everywhere.
