A Very Long Walk

While discussing with people about my student who had a seizure, some of the conversation led me to remember this lady that I met. Her name is Karla Brown. When I first met her she had recently completed a walk from Seattle to Washington DC to celebrate being 20 years seizure free. She had brain surgery in Seattle at the age of 18 because her seizures were unmanageable. My own discussion caused me to remember her, and just for fun put her name into search engines, with the additional information of walking across America. It turns out she has been on a few more walks since then and now lives in Natchez, Mississippi and has a business giving local tours. Either on one of my dead computers or on a disc I have photos from her first trip. She is a unique individual. I cannot even remember how I met her. I know I shared her photography when I was in activities and social services at a nursing home. So, meet my friend Karla

Talk about walking for a cause. I know I couldn't do that, no matter how much I tried or wanted to.

I wonder if she has foot issues now? My Mom never learned to drive so she walked a whole bunch during her life time. She ended up having massive foot issues.

I have not heard. It is important to have good shoes if you walk a lot.

I really enjoyed the times I heard her speak. Perhaps she will write a book.

How wonderful that she has been free of seizures for so long. My daughter had many, many seizures until she was a teenager and I feel that God healed her for she hasn't had one since.
