AC the kid sustained a scratch from Ariana the cat a week ago when he accidentally stepped it but he did not tell anyone at home. Now the scratch is inflamed so we brought the kid yesterday at the animal bite center. He was given shots of tetanus toxoid an an anti rabies. I thought it's no longer necessary to be vaccinated with anti rabies because the cat has been vaccinated already but the doctor ordered. Today, we're schedule for another vaccine to be infiltrated at the scratch site. I did not like the idea because it's like we're exposing ourselves to Covid. But we're here anyway.

Even if the cat or dog has been vaccinated it is a protocol for doctors to have the person who was bitten or scratched be still vaccinated. A vaccinated rabid animal doesn't mean it wouldn't release rabies. The anti-rabies shot for animals is for their own protection that they won't die from rabies when they bite someone.

@ZedSmart once fully vaccinated against rabies, the person can do away with it when bitten next time except for the tetanus shot. I’m not sure but if my memory serves me right we only need three shots of tetanus for our entire lifetime.

We get booster shots for tetanus every ten years.

The anti-rabies injection has become priority. The inflammation means the body is fighting the rabies. A good thing because the child wouldn't have told you what happened.
Take necessary precautions for CoViD.

@ZedSmart From now on, instruct the child to tell you guys whatever is ailing in the body, be it a simple headache or a mild fever.

That is not a good idea to be at the hospital because of the threat of the virus.

I agree with you. The environment at hospitals needs to be avoided as much as possible But you can follow protocol and change your clothes once you get home
