Today's Mishaps

The day started out nicely but things kind of got off track. We decided to ride over to Daytona today. I wanted to go to this produce vendor's store and get some fresh fruit. We got there and it was closed. No problem. I remember seeing on the flea market brochure that they have local product there as well. So we headed to the flea market in Daytona. We got there (on the other side of town) and yes, it was closed too. I looked on the brochure when we got back to the Condo and yes, it says on the back that they are only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Opps!! So I told hubby next stop is his choice. I asked if he wanted to go to Daytona Speedway. He said not really because that would probably entail a lot of walking. So that got x'd off the list. We ended up passing it on the way back to Ormond Beach anyway so at least we got to see the outside. LOL. Our next stop was to pick up some nose spray for him. We had stopped yesterday but the store was out of stock. Got that and we headed back to the condo. We came in and I started unloading the dishwasher so we could get something to eat. I managed to drop a glass that hit the two plates I had left on the counter for lunch and the glass shattered into a zillion pieces and the top plate also. It took a good 45 minutes to clean the mess up and as we were almost done my husband asked where the blood came from. There were a few drops of blood on the floor. Looking down at my feet we see that one sandal is covered and full of blood. I almost fainted right then. Although myt foot didn't hurt bad, the sight of so much blood on an empty stomach made me feel really quesy. I managed to find the wound/cut which was on the inside of my foot at the area where my ankle is located on the opposite side. I got the bleeding to stop and hobbled to the bathroom and rinsed off my foot. After all that I really didn't want to eat so I took my book and went out on the balcony and read my book and sipped on a Seagrams cooler. We stayed inside after all that. Tomorrow I'll see about replacing the wine glass. I don't think I'll find a single plate to replace so that will just have to be billed to us. This is the second time we have had to replace a glass. The ice maker in the door chipped a glass a couple of years ago. I manged to find a replacement at Dollar Tree so I'll look there tomorrow and hopefully find a match to this set. Such a busy day. I hope your ankle is better today. Glad you could stop and relax a bit after all of that.

I tried to stay off it most of the day but went out to one of the outlet stores late this afternoon. I'm glad that we didn't have anything planned with a lot of walking today.

It was an unusual day. Dropping the glass...I guess I hit the bottom shelf as I was reaching for the top.

Yep, it was a bit odd! I must of hit the bottom shelf trying to reach the middle shelf to put the glass up. That is the olny reason I can come up with for dropping the glass. I thought for sure I was going to need stitches when I saw all the blood. Also, glad my hubby was here to help clean it all up.

Wish the Ormond Hotel was still around. That place was amazing to me when I was a teenager. (That was in the 70s, and by then it was a retirement home.) Hope your foot is all better and you don’t find any more “surprise” pieces of glass. Have a great day!!!!!

The foot is bruised today but the cut is going to be okay. It is a good thing I live in sandals because I know a shoe would hurt and rub against the cut.

You should have just planted your butt in a lounge chair on the beach with a margarita or piña colada and just called it a day! lol Hope your foot is okay. At least you will have some good stories to tell someday! I still remember fondly a vacation I took in the mountains and fell down the spiral staircase in our cabin and broke 4 of my toes (on the first day of vacation). I spent the entire week hobbling around telling everyone I was fine when really I was crying like a baby on the inside!

Yep! I did have a very chilled Seagram's Escape. I should have sent the man to the store across the street for a bottle of Crown!! Oh wow, I can only imagine the pain with four broke toes.

@kareng I like the thought of a bottle of Crown! The broken toes weren’t too bad, except when we went whitewater rafting. That was a very painful 4 hours of my life!

I hope you're feeling better now... We had a glass serving bowl slip off the counter a few weeks ago and shatter everywhere. It took us about an hour to get it all cleaned up. Last night I was walking across the kitchen when I felt something jab the bottom of my foot. Pretty was standing there so I lifted up my foot and asked what I'd stepped on. She pulled a sliver of glass out and then helped me clean and wrap my foot. It was fun.

We did! I read my book on the balcony for awhile and came inside to find the hubby napping so I gave in to a nap as well.

It was a bust, but we still enjoyed our outing. The foot is a little sore today, bruised and a tad bit of swelling but I'll live!
