I don't know about the rest of you but as I have gotten older I have taken to getting a few supplements to help my aging body age a little easier. I take Vitamin D3, Beta Carotene(for my eyes), CO Q-10(for the immune system), and Glucosamine Chondroitin(for my joints). I am blessed to have great medical insurance(Molina Healthcare) that I just started. It has a program where I get a $40 allowance quarterly for medical needs and supplements.
But, I wasn't aware that a cheap filler is used to bind ingredients together and lubricate some supplements. Don't want it to gum up when they run it through the manufacturing machinery. This filler is Magnesium Stearate and it adds no nutritional value to the supplement and can even be toxic to your system. So watch for this if you take any supplements for help with cholesterol. It is included in low-quality cholesterol supplements.

Magnesium stearate is generally considered safe for consumption. However, like with most things, moderation is key. It has been found to have a potential laxative effect.
I was curious and went digging for any studies that have shown anything beyond gastrointestinal effects, and I didn't find anything alarming. What researchers have said, though, is that cumulative effects from multiple sources (such as in your case) do bear further study.

I've always bought the chewable, flavored VitaminC tablets, but this last time I bought just the plain tablets. Never again! They start to disolve as soon as I get them in my mouth and taste like aspirin. Yuck!

I like the Flavonoids I get at the Co-op. They have acerola in them which is very tasty.
