Listening to a Friend Vent

Most of the morning I was on the phone with a friend. She needed to vent. So I listened. That is what friends are for I believe. I am doing laundry and was able to continue, carrying my phone around with me at the same time. Most of us often feel better to vent and get out our emotions at times. But not everyone is willing to listen. I have limits but when my friend calls I always listen. Nothing major, she has four children and several grandchildren. And she works two jobs. Always on the run. Trying to split her time with each child and grandchild the best she can. I told her maybe we could trade places for a week or so. And she laughed. That has been my morning. The cats are in my lap as I type. I think they missed me yesterday.

It's good that you had a chance to be there for your friend. I am wishing that my best friend would call to vent. I think that she is so overloaded right now, though, that it will be a while before she re-emerges.

You are a very good friend to listen Carol. I also have a friend like that and I know when she calls it will just be me listening. I feel good that she's comfortable enough with me to vent and know that what she says won't go any further.

I have my limits too. I always listen to this particular friend all the time. Every time she sends a message I'm expecting it to be just a vent. If she wasn't venting she wouldn't even bother to message me. But yesterday, I prefer to be alone but after awhile I did open her message and as usual it's the same thing. I didn't talk long though. I ended it right away.
