Who wants it back?

A few days ago I read an article that scientists are trying to bring back the woolly mammoth, a giant creature which is the ancestor of the asian elephant. Seems like Jurassic Park is now going to become a reality but instead of dinosaurs, we'll be having the mammoth.
Extinction to de-extinciton. How do you like that idea?
Mammoth became extinct 4,000 years ago. And I believe that prehistoric animals should remain prehistoric. They became extinct for a reason!

That just another dumb idea. Where would they put it? How woukd they feed it? And, as you say, they became extinct for a reason.

I agree and to spend too much money in bringing back prehistoric animals? I think the money is more useful in other research programs that could benefit the living people.

They should spend all that money on protecting the animals we still have instead of bringing back some that poachers are going to go after...

The Colossal founder donated $15M to the research project to bring back the mammoth and according to him this will excite the people just like how they got excited when Apollo was launched to the moon. And he said it could result in innovations that will benefit biotechnology and health care. But I just don't see how it could.

@DaddyEvil true. Like how about feeding the hungry children in poor countries? The money could go a long long way.

@toniganzon I've read about this before. I think it's stupid... Who cares if it will "excite the people" when there are so many more important things that money could be spent on?

I heard about this and They just hairy elephants with tusks people going to kill for. Elephants evolved for a reason. Its not going to work because planet to warm they were in ice age and freaking elephants struggling with man. Rich people are so dumb, how did they get so rich and they the ones that kill them all off anyway or make poor people kill them off. I really do hate rich people.

Now we’re talking about killing people. Rich people. Just rich people with dumb ideas. Imagine donating $15M to this research just to bring back hairy elephants and then say it’s going to excite people the same way they did when Apollo was launched. How dumb is that?!

@toniganzon Hows it going to excite people? Sure people will be amazed for 5 seconds then see how grumpy they are like all of us and then go this was a bad idea. What was the point? Just to show we mankind and can do what ever we want. No you cannot fools. It would depress most people more than excite them.

@RebeccasFarm though elephants are known to be gentle animals, they could still go on a stampede and kill people.

Although it sounds like a cool concept, I believe we shouldn't mess with the past. Just let bygone eras be bygone. If they want to bring back extinct animals, bring back recent ones that are extinct because of the stupid and deliberate actions of mankind.

Totally agree with you and that’s what i told my friend. Why don’t they bring back those animals that went extinct because of people’s cruelty.

@toniganzon So many species are going extinct on a daily basis, that we should focus on restoring their numbers instead of trying to bring back something from thousands of years ago.

Well at least mammoths aren’t carnivorous so they’re sage.

They are doing this just because they think they can. I don't really see the point personally, unless it just helps them develop the science more.

Yes and developing the science more can also have more consequences. Why couldn’t they leave nature alone.

I am more on protecting the endangered species now and not bringing back a prehistoric one that could end up as a waste of money.

Mammoths lived during the ice age. Creating and making one survive would require millions. Could the rich just please give those millions to the poorer country instead? A lot of people are starving to survive in this world including children. I think they deserve those million instead of the mammoth.
