Good morning (or whatever time of day it is where you are).
Today, I should be going to archery. I missed it last week as I was unwell. I'm reluctant to go today as I was out late last night. My husband, my big sister, and I went to a Billy Idol tribute/80s night at a local place (I'll refer to it as the Trent). We went to the Trent for something else a few weeks ago - a psychic night event hosted by my sister. We liked the place so much that we decided to become members. We've still not sorted out the membership but that's husband's job now!
Anyway, last night's gig started at 9:15pm. That's usually past my bed time
so I was having trouble actually staying awake in between finishing work and going out. We did have a good time, though. There was a raffle. We won a prize, which we thought was a box of chocolates. However, it was a trick. There were no chocolates in the box. There were, however, four tickets to another event. This time to a UB40/ska night. My husband isn't a big fan of UB40 (I am, though), but we both enjoy ska. My sister wanted to go as well but we might give the other two tickets to my nephew if he wants them. My sister will probably still get to go as the tickets are cheap enough (as long as there are still some available, of course).
I've also booked for myself and my youngest son to go to MCM comic con. Neither of us has been to a comic con before, so we're looking forward to that. We've also got tickets to see a play that my little niece is in (although we're in the process of trying to get the tickets swapped as I didn't realise she wouldn't be in the performance we'd originally booked).
My eldest son (Midi) has started back at university. He went up there to move into his new place over a month ago, but the term has just officially started. He's repeating his third year. He did very well on the theory but, unfortunate, wasn't able to get any practical experience due to schools being closed (he's a trainee teacher). Some of the students were lucky enough to secure a placement while others were less fortunate. Hopefully, I'll have a fully fledged maths teacher this time next year.
My other son (Mini) recently started college. He was let down by the school where he'd intended to completed his education, but it's all turned out for the best for him. He seems to be enjoying the course he's on - Diploma in Acting. He's got work experience coming up as a theatre company requires actors for a local performance. When I say local, it's being performed in the same place that I do archery - a 20 minute walk from where we live. Mini is, hopefully, going to be a performer in a scare maze for a Hallie event. He's hoping to get the part of Satan, who will be like the end of level boss. Even if he doesn't get that, I think he'll do an excellent job of scaring people!
What else is going on? Oh yes, my youngest step-daughter has been having yet more tests to find out why she's falling apart. We're not too concerned about that. We're more concerned about the damage that is being done by her attention-seeking mum. Anyway, that's another story. Step-daughter is working hard to finally get herself a basic maths qualification. She's 24 so had been doing that for 8 years. She got her English last year. Apparently, the test/qualification has been changed because it was so difficult that hardly anyone was passing it.
As for the other step-daughter (C), she's doing an amazing job of being a mum to our grandbabies - Baby1 is 6, Baby2 is almost 5, and Baby3 is 2. The older two are at school, and the youngest at nursery. We're calling them tomorrow so we can see how they're getting on. Last time we called C, the babies were on holiday with their other grandparents so we didn't chat with them. It was nice to just chat with C, though. It was funny because we (my husband, boys and I) spent a week in Cornwall and we were coming back as the babies were heading down. We went to different areas.
I've been working on various writing projects. I wrote a poem for a competition but was unsuccessful there. It's published on Vocal, but no prizes for me. I read the winning ones and wasn't impressed. I wouldn't even call them poems. I'm not going to rate my own work - maybe other people don't think it's very good - but I've often read winning entries to things and thought it seems they're looking for talentless drivel!
Not much else to tell. Work is boring. I went for a different job but didn't get it (I did get an interview and some positive feedback so not all bad). It's my birthday next weekend. I'll be out for a meal with friends in the week.
That's what's happening here. What's going on with you?

I don't know why I call them Mini and Midi. Probably because they were the youngest and the middle of my mum's grandchildren when I first wrote about them. They're not now - they're now numbers 2 and 3 of 5.
Yes, your doggy does look a bit like a pirate. I've had that avatar since the beginning of myLot, and I don't remember why I chose that

@pumpkinjam It just gets better 2 and 3 of 5. My goodness sound like Sandra Bullock in that movie where they have to keep their eyes closed. Boy, Girl.

@crossbones27 haha. I've seen that one. Wasn't a fan!
I was thinking what I said was more along the lines of Star Trek with '7 of 9' and the Borg!

Thank you for the newsy update. Happy early Birthday. We are just waiting to get an offer on the other house and are getting ready for our mini trip. Good to hear from you! Hope you are feeling better.

Thank you. I am feeling better. I did go to archery for a little while. It's a lovely sunny day, the other archers are all lovely, and I really do enjoy it. I shot at a further distance today - not entirely successfully but I tried.
Have you been waiting long for an offer on the house? Friends of ours bought a house earlier this year but had to stay with family because of various little things that delayed the move. They're finally in now so hoping for a housewarming party soon
Where is your trip taking you? Have you told us before, or am I thinking of someone else who was going on a trip? Our next holiday is planned for Easter as we're taking my dad for his birthday.
I hope you get your house stuff sorted soon, and have a lovely trip. I look forward to reading about it if you post about it

@pumpkinjam I have posted about the trip and the house. We left for our trip to the Florida Keys last month but turned around after one day. The traffic was horrific, my husband had trouble lugging the luggage and the beds were bad. To make up for it we are planning a very short trip to Erie PA to go to the casino and some other attractions. We finally put the other house up for sale after years of procrastinating by my husband. There have been a couple of showings but no offers. We will be lowering the price soon.

I'm glad you enjoyed the event and won a prize. I hope you enjoy the next event, the concert you're going to. I hope the others can also use the extra tickets.
I hope your son gets the part of Satan in the theatrical event. Is it a Halloween thing?
I hope everything works out with the college studies.
Not much going on here.

Yes, the Satan thing is a Halloween thing. I think it's just a maze with actors playing various devilish creatures. I know my son will enjoy it anyway. He's always wanted to be an actor, and he's very good at it (I am biased, of course, but other people have told me how good he is as well

It was good. 'White Wedding' is mine and my sister's song that we sing together at karaoke. My husband sang it at his little sister's wedding as well.
