An Unprecedented Power Crisis is Staring at Us.

What I had foreseen years ago is staring at us menacingly. An unprecedented power crisis may hit us sooner than expected. Most of the electricity generating centers burn coal as fuel. Now, coal is not an endless gift of nature. With the speed and quantity we were burning it sooner or later it was going to dry up. It is in the media and every worthy man is talking about the looming power crisis. My electricity comes from a thermal power station about 20 km from here. It runs on coal. too.

I feel bad for those outside NCR because here it seldom happens. Sometimes, just a few seconds.

Reportedly, India now produces a lot more power from Solar and Wind energy. However Hydro power is very less and we are still dependent on Coal so much. Looks like India has to move towards Solar much more faster. I am not talking about Nuclear as it has its own troubles with regards to the Nuclear waste generation.

@jstory07 I think this power issue is global issue, not only for one or two counties, just like Covid 19. No country save from pandemic untill all save

I agree. There are already quite many hydel power generating centres. They vare mostly close to the mountain region, but a vast plain areas depend on coal.

maybe it will become a worldwide circumstance,we just went through a power crisis, electricity supply was limited in whole nation, most factory's electric power cut off for several hours one day.Until the end of last month, electric supply just return to normality.I think this situation was caused by power crisis.

We sell coal overseas, perhaps to India. I'm not sure where it goes but the bigger powers want us to stop producing it and turn to healthier ways of producing electricity.

Yesterday, I learnt from a reliable channel India is one of the largest coal mining country and at the same time it is one of the largest importer of coal.

Yes, I am worried about it too. Though I today read a news update stating such crisis is going to be unlikely, I cannot get rid of the worry fully.

Government should immediately implement some other alternatives. There is solar and wind energy which is endless,it won't end.
