Wind Is Blowing Like Crazy Out Here

Wheat Ridge, Colorado

And it is blinking freezing wind at that. I have an idea we may get snow shortly here, though the sky is very blue, it is a bitter wind blowing. The leaves on these trees out here are getting dryer and dryer and they are nearly all yellow now. Some of the other trees are nearly bare already. Soon people will be trying to rake them all. They should leave them though as they are food for the earth do you think? Or do you think it is better to rake them all up? Do you like raking leaves or jumping in a pile of them?

I sure hope you don't get snow. I couldn't handle the cold that would go with the snow. Leaves, dangerous things. Worst hazard for a motorcyclist in Autumn. Very bad on a wet road, just like black ice You don't see them till you hit them.

I think racking them up is a good idea, if you live in a heavily populated area. While it's food for the earth, they don't always disappear and refuel the earth as quickly as we'd like. They can get in the roads, and cause problems that we don't need. If you're in a rueal area, you can probably get away with let them do as they please.

A cold wind is blowing here, but not many leaves are falling yet. I am going to wait to have more on the ground before raking.

@RebeccasFarm I have a blower and the river runs along our garden. I know what I am going to do.

I agree with you, those leaves are a part of what Mother Nature wanted the trees to have to protect them from the harsh winters. There aren't enough trees to provide much leaf cover around here but I don't rake any of it. In spring I'll probably rake the grassy area that Roscoe likes so that I can mow it.
