Five Little Chicks Cried for Their Life

I had not expected the rain to fall so suddenly and so heavily. How our assumptions are wrong! I heard continuous" chium chium" from our backyard garden. I understood the little chicks were in trouble. I ran down and looked around where the chicks were. Our foster girl Salina found them huddled under a hibiscus bush. She takes care of chickens well. She gave me the chicks one by one. She wiped the mother hen and all the chicks ( five of them) with a rag and put them in a dry basket. Safe and warm, the chicks became silent. Had we not acted fast the little birds were would have died. They are only four days old.
