Day 128 2 Chronicles 33:11 Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. 12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, 13 And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God. (KJV) How stubborn and rebellious are you? Do you know someone who is stubborn or rebellious? Manasseh was the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah. He did not follow the Lord, but set up idols and caused his sons to pass through the fire. He worshiped the host of heaven and caused Judah to do the same. Manasseh was more wicked than the heathen they conquered when Israel inhabited the land. God sent Assyria against Manasseh to bring him to Babylon where he repented and sought God with all his heart. God then brought him back to Jerusalem. As Christians, you were stubborn and rebellious before you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. You did things your way and defied anyone who tried to tell you different. Only when you heard about and accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord did you turn from your stubborn and rebellious nature and worshiped God. Ephesians 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. However, your story didn’t end in disobedience to God, but in favor with God when you accepted His Son, Jesus as your Savior and Lord. Then God, who always had His eye on you, showered you with blessings. Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. God will do whatever it takes to bring you to salvation through His Son. He needed to show Manasseh he could not keep defying God and His laws. When He sent Manasseh to Babylon, he realized his error and turned to God and knew He was God. God’s grace and mercy saved you and brought you into His kingdom. You could do nothing to bring about your salvation. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (KJV) Let’s pray: Father, thank you for bringing me to salvation through Your Son, Jesus. Help me see Your hand on my life every day and worship You alone. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
