I got a raise!

I had big happy joy fun at my friend's preschool yesterday and also got a raise. It turns out that the budget folks at the State level decided that Early Childhood Educators deserve a cost-of-living increase. I couldn't lead my lavish lifestyle if teaching littlies were my only gig, but it's been a great supplement to my income over the years. Plus I think I look forward to it more than any of my other jobs. One little girl I've worked with since she was 1 1/2 turned four at the end of September. It occurred to me as I was putting a superhero wrist band on her arm yesterday (we'd made it together) that I consider her one of my "best friends" right now. Is that odd?

No matter the age, when you like someone this one can be your best friend.

@TheHorse We have some friends who are a lot younger, but we love to get together and discuss of many different things.

@TheHorse I do not have a very good feeling with very young kids, but I like to talk with people of any age.

Yeah, but the actual cost of living and what you got in your paycheck are two different things. Oh, well, congratulations on the pay raise. It might help you get that Lamborghini in 2722 instead of 2725.

@vandana7 — by the 28th century I don’t think I will CARE.

Actually, $3.00 an hour, which is a lot when you work in a low-paying position.

@BarBaraPrz But I'm still only partially employed right now. I could retire. But I don't want to. I live to work. See my latest post. It is virtually impossible to get unemployment benefits in California.

That is great...As long as your raise doesn't lower my California tax refunds.

@xander6464 I've heard that before. But it may have been one of my butlers putting his spin on the news.

Congratulations. You are making a difference in the littlies lives, that is why they are your best friends and you theirs.

wow, congrats on the raise you've got there:) It amazes me that you have worked with these very young kiddos. It's really hard to handle kids this age especially if you are not a SPED teacher.

Congrats on your raise and what I have heard about how you work with the children you certainly deserve it, Not odd at all children at that age actually make better friends than grown-ups

The little ones tell it like it is and aren't encumbered by all that adult stuff. Congratulations on your raise. Cute picture.

She was doing a happy dance. About being three and well-loved. I was doing a happy dance about making more money. Hmm.

The happy dance girl is from a few years ago. But she was another of my "best friends."
