Every day we celebrate something it seems. This story got my attention since I enjoy nuts almost every day.
Many health benefits to nuts as well. I always buy the unsalted nuts, and they taste just as good as the salted.
I cook with nuts as well. I add them to banana bread, brownies, oatmeal and many other foods. Walnuts are one of my favorites.
Do you have a favorite nut? And not a person, I am talking food.

I like some nuts, but not all of them. I used to like almonds but now I find them too hard for my teeth So I grind them.

Lol, I like cashews, almonds, and pistachios equally although I eat mine with some salt or sometimes honey roasted. I'm eating more for the protein content and to mix up my diet a little. I mostly eat mine as a snack rather than in things.

@CarolDM I'm not home to cook much. Maybe one day I'll add nuts to my cooking. The only thing I use them for now is when I make cranberry salad fresh.

I love cooking with walnuts, they are one of my favorites. Hazelnuts are delicious, but I don't eat them often. Jay buys cashews, I sometimes share them. Almonds are wonderful, occasionally I eat these nuts. Macadamias are too expensive, but very delicious!

My husband is more a fan than I am. He likes almonds and cashews; however, he gets the raw ones, so they're basically all his. My preference would be, at the very least, for them to be salted; at the best, though, they should be covered in chocolate.

@CarolDM Other than that I like pecans.
Are sunflower seeds considered nuts?

Rats! I was going to tell you my favorite nut is Henry (cat).
Being the polar opposite of my mom regarding nuts (she hated them), I don't know if I can pick a favorite. Walnuts have a soft spot in my heart because my childhood next-door neighbors had a walnut tree in their yard that their Irish Setter mix used to climb. And, I have a soft spot in my heart for pecans because my dad's grandfather owed an orchard.
I do tend to eat those nuts, almonds, cashews, and macadamia nuts most of all.
Once, I spent the night at a friend's who lived seventy miles from my house. It was a work night for them, so they were so preoccupied with getting ready for work the next day that no one ate breakfast. It was also raining - which delayed my drive. So, by the time I got home, it was almost 2:00 pm, and I was starving but not looking forward to fixing anything. And that's when I remembered that I still had a box of white chocolate, cranberry, macadamia nut cookies (which was odd because I can polish those things off in three seconds).
I washed those cookies down with a few glasses of Merlot, and I have to tell you, that was the greatest breakfast ever. And, I don't mean because I was starving. White chocolate, cranberry, macadamia nut cookies, and Merlot taste wonderful together.

@CarolDM He's a sleepy boy today. It's 48°F, and the wind chill is 44°F - too cold, in his opinion, for him to want to go out on the balcony. So, I think he's a little bummed and bored.

@CarolDM my dad used to always say you are what you eat. I never accepted the nuts he handed me after saying that!

I love pistachio's the best. After that I I like almonds and walnuts. I'm like you a little bit I always use walnuts in my zucchini bread, cookies and brownies. I also really like pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. Do you count those as a nut. Or maybe nuts and seeds just fall under the same category? I'm not sure. I just know I like them so it doesn't really matter. I like my seeds and nuts salted to eat plain, but for baking I use unsalted.
