Who is Chef Mike?

Recently, I came upon a video on YouTube where Gordon Ramsay went to a restaurant, ordered some stuff from the menu, and then critiqued it. It might have been from some show of his but don't remember. Something that he ordered was scalding hot. Seemed like it was reheated in the microwave. He called the waiter and asked him who made this dish. The answer was Chef Mike. Ramsay was surprised by that and asked the waiter if they had a third chef in the restaurant since as far as he knew they had only two chefs. The waiter laughed and said Chef Mike is the microwave. They use it a lot in the restaurant. That was a bit funny but it made me wonder... How many restaurants actually cook (or even reheat) stuff in the microwave?

@RebeccasFarm Yeah. Somehow I don't think he'd be laughing.

I think there are lots of secrets at restaurants we don't know about. methods of cooking etc.

@lovebuglena Yes they should not but I think restaurants as any other business are profit motivated. I don't believe that customer is the king. Have been badly treated in restaurants before

@Nawsheen I sure hope that at least fine dining restaurants do not use microwaves to make customers’ dishes.

A lot more than one might think, me thinks. Also, I think that was on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

@lovebuglena I never knew that restaurants use a microwave and do not actually cook the meal.

@Hannihar I would think that a microwaved burger wouldn’t taste that good. How was yours?

@lovebuglena That is sad but I remember I went to one of my favorite burger places this summer and I believed they heated up the burgers too. Maybe during the virus they do that.

I'm sure there are a ton of restaurants that use the microwave.

That’s not a good thing. To me anyway. I wouldn’t want my food microwaved if I am dining out.
