I went outside to feed the dogs and happened to glace over at hubby's truck. I was not happy to see that he had a flat tire on the front passenger side. Upon futher inspection, I see a big square silver piece shining right at the edge of the tire's width. This appears to be a big screw that he picked up somewhere and the tire is probably ruined. Hubby got a big Trick!!
I called him to come and look at his truck. He said, "What's wrong?" I told him a flat tire. When he came outside I showed him the object in the tire and he was really ticked off. He backed up in the driveway yesterday while I was gone to Baton Rouge to hook up the trailer to being the mower to house in Louisiana. The only thing we can think of is that the city parish mowed the shoulders of the road and drug up this nasty little surprise.
I was just glad that he didn't head off to Louisiana and have the flat on the road pulling the utility trailer. I told him that he didn't want to mow anyway. That didn't seem to lift his spirits.
Just chalking this one up to another one in the bad luck column!

When something like this happens, you never know. Perhaps he was safer staying at home.

@kareng Glad it wasnt a newer tire too. Those things are expensive, especially for a truck.

The last two times I had flat tires (both from screws in the tires), it was right after I had just purchased new tires. Both freaking times! On the first one, the whole was too big to plug or patch the tire, so I had to fork out even more money to replace a brand new tire. The second time, I was lucky enough that the hole could be plugged.

We were thinking back on where he had been last in the truck and that was the day we dropped off my car at the dealer. We rode around a bit in his truck after a few errands and he did turn around a couple of times off the road so that may be where he picked that thing up. He actually had some shimming going on coming home so that sounds more like where he got it from. That makes me feel better about him not getting it here.

@kareng No matter where it happened, it’s still no fun to deal with.

when it rains it pours!
it is really good you caught it, and that it didn't happen on the road towing the trailer. That could be hard to handle!

@DocAndersen Since he isn't feeling well it didn't take much to convince him. He's going to take the tire off and look at it today, and put the spare on or try to plug/patch the tire.

Bummer. But I always think that things happen for a reason. I know, that probably doesn’t lift his spirits, either.

It is a shame but better to have discovered this before a trip was made,

I'm sorry about the flat. I'm glad it didn't happen on the highway.
