The last endurance ride of the season took place yesterday and we’ve been busy processing photos. They are now all up on our website for people to see. Despite the forecast of showers and rain, the weather couldn’t have been more kind to us – warm and sunny without being humid.
There was a lot of water on the track and some of the horses were loathe to tackle it. One lady’s horse did a huge cat-leap and catapulted her over its shoulder. She picked herself up, remounted and carried on but she would have been wet and cold for a few hours.
Another young girl had to wade through the water leading her horse as it just refused to walk through. However, all had a great time and are looking forward to more rides next year.

The pictures look great! The Lady did well to remount fast.
So would summer months not see such endurance rides?

I've not known a lot of horses over my years, but I've known a number of horse people. It is my impression that horses are fairly catlike in their nature.

@JudyEv That bit is surprising, but it just reinforces my impression that there isn't as much difference between horses and cats as some people would think.
It's good that the woman was not injured, though. I've had the joy of accompanying someone to the hospital after their horse friend managed to step on their foot during a casual stroll. Ouch...

@wilsongoddard Certainly horses can cause some nasty damage if they tread on you.

I feel for the lady with the jumper. I had one that tried to jump over every time we needed to cross water. Once she was in it she was fine.

@JudyEv Peaches would jump as far as she could. It was still less water to wade through I guess But I could turn her and ride right down a stream once I had her in it with no problem

@wolfgirl569 It's funny how their minds work sometimes.

Now, I figured those horses would love walking through the water. Some of them weren't happy about it!

@kobesbuddy Sometimes they do get hurt but luckily not this time.

@JudyEv I'm so glad that nobody got hurt, the rider than got thrown I meant.

Was the lady okay in the long run? And the horse was okay, too?
Summer’s on the way in Australia, so I guess everyone wants to hit the beaches.

@JudyEv — enjoy the summer. And if our winter gets too cold, could you send us some warmth?

When I was a kid dad bought one horse that was trained not to step into water. We couldn't even lead him through it. Riding where there are streams crossing the roads all the time was not fun at all. If there was no bridge, our ride ended there and we had to turn around and go home.
I bet you guys are happy the season is over until next year.

@JudyEv Sometimes horses are funny and quirky, just like people.
