A real challenge hunting for healthy food diet is. One finds a good dish but after eating the same over and over again, the taste refuses to accept. Good thing my daughter doesn't get tired of checking out possible alternates for our daily nourishment. Yesterday, I found some cute dumplings on my counter table. So I sliced calamansi right away for dip. Whoa! The tender dumplings were so satisfying that after devouring all that in the picture, I fell on a two-hour afternoon nap.

I have not found the chicken version of that. I usually see pork siomai.

Available at S n R in affordable packs. There's also chicken siopao and shrimp hacao. All you have to do is to steam at home.

@rsa101 A healthy option would be home cooking. Sometimes, my daughter simply steam the ground chicken mixed with onions and carrots and raisins on the stove and we also get that sumptuous siomai taste. No salt nor pepper added. We just dip in calamansi.

Usually siomai tastes fish but we also have chicken flavor so I ever try both.

@eileenleyva Here, indeed, fish siomai are different from fish balls that only use flour without soy.

@May2k8 Oh, I remember now. There are dumplings called sharks' fin. That must be the fish siomai. Yup, the siomai and the fish balls are two different preparations.

I have not eaten fish siomai but probably you meant the fish balls and squid balls, another type of dumpling that is fried in deep oil instead of being steamed. The dip is also different. The siomai is dipped in soy and citrus while the fish balls in sticky sauce stirred from brown sugar, flour and soy.

Dumplings are ground meat mixed with shrimp and onions shaped round in egg wrappers and steamed for half-an-hour. In my country, dumplings are available in the grocery. We just have to steam it in the home.

Everybody loves dumplings, I think. Just by looking, we do get hungry at once.
